Dell Streak 7 gets price and launching details


The Dell Streak 7 was announced during CES 2011 and T-Mobile USA is already selling the 7 inch tablet. Today, we have details on the launching of the Android powered tablet in the UK. The tablet will be priced for  £299, including VAT & freight. A very good deal if you ask me. The 3G and WiFi capable tablet will be sold over at Dell Direct, SIM-free and unlocked.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play shipping will be delayed


Sony Ericsson have confirmed that the world's fist PLayStation certified smartphone, the Xperia Play will have shipping delays. This would basically mean that it will be missing it's April 1 launching in the UK which I posted about before.


Google introduces their version of Facebook's Like button - The +1 Button


"Our goal at Google is to get you the most relevant results as quickly as possible. But relevance is about relationships as well as words on webpages." - Google
Oh so, Google have announced their newest way to sharing important and relevant content on the web. The button called +1 will be rolled out gradually to people with Google Profiles. This new feature from Google will make searching stuff on Google.com much more relevant and it will be showing you search results that matter, links of web content that your friends have clicked on the +1 button.


QNX + BlackBerry OS 6.1 = BlackBerry OS 7?


Currently, the only device that is and will be running on BlackBerry's QNX-based platform is the soon to be launched BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. Then people ask, will the QNX OS ever gonna be brought to BlackBerry smartphones and eventually replace BlackBerry OS?


Asus EeePad Transformer gets a price tag in the UK and in France


The Asus EeePad Transformer which was announced at CES 2011 along side with 4 other tablets bearing the same brand will be launched in the UK in April 6. Asus have also announced the pricing for the device in the UK. The EeePad Transformer is an Android powered device, specifically Android 3.0 Honeycomb.

Samsung to release the Samsung Galaxy S Plus?



Samsung, according to their Russian Livejournal Blog, will be releasing the Samsung Galaxy S Plus. We already heard about the Samsung Galaxy SL which is a heavier, thicker and a device that is powered by a 1GHz OMAP processor. The Galaxy S Plus is said to be a device which is "superior" than both the original Galaxy S and the SL.


HP announces WebOS 3.0 Beta for developers



HP, during their WebOS CONNECT event in London, have announced the availability of the next iteration of HP Palm's mobile OS, the WebOS 3.0. Of course, it will still be available first to developers that have taken part of their Early Access program. The SDK fully supports HP's new Enyo apps framework (whatever this means), which is said to offer hardware acceleration, HTML5, browser-based management, better performance, and a lot more. As we all know, WebOS 3.0 powers the new HP TouchPad which was announced back in February.


HTC Pyramid gets photoed and leaked, again


Another leaked photos of the HTC Pyramid which is yet to be announced by HTC gets photoed and leaked again. I do not know about you but I think that metallic, very HTC, band at the phone's behind is sexy for me. It may be just like the HTC 7 Mozart but it really works.

Vodafone UK puts the HTC Desire S on pre-order to launch in April 8



The HTC Desire S, the successor to the popular HTC Desire, was announced during the Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona, Spain. The phone is scheduled to be launched by Vodafone UK in April 8th. Currently, the network is also taking pre-orders from interested customers of the said smartphone.


Samsung Sweden promised the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Galaxy S to be released soon



Samsung Sweden have confirmed that the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the popular Samsung Galaxy S (GT-i9000) is going to be released soon. Samsung Hub reports that the update is in its final stage of testing and is due to be released anytime soon. The update, in Sweden, will be first coming to unlocked Galaxy S-es for those who have their phones locked with a network carrier the update should be released in in mid-May much later than the unlocked Galaxy S-es which should get the update in mid-April.


Verizon roadmap leaked Droid Charge, Xperia Play, Incredible 2, and a lot more!


Oh this is nice. For all Verizon customers this is somehow what you want, the network's roadmap being leaked to the internet. The said roadmap reveals when phones, new smartphones, are going to be launched by the Big Red. Some of these devices are the Incredible 2, the Samsung Droid Charge, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, and a lot more.


BlackBerry Messenger for iPhone will not be released in April 26, says RIM


RIM have confirmed that the rumors about their popular messaging service, BlackBerry Messenger, will not be released for the iPhone. RIM have stated this to clear things up, “RIM did not hold a conference in Toronto this week, and Jim Balsillie did not speak at any event in Toronto this week.” Obviously, that statement does not tell us that the service or feature or app will not be released in the future it only states and confirms the fact that definitely, BBM for iPhone will not be hitting the App Store in April 26th.

So, Rovio have announced yesterday that Angry Birds Rio will be launched on Android today and yes it is! Angry Birds Rio is now available for download via the Android Market. Office Depot to start selling the BlackBerry PlayBook in April 19


The QNX-based BlackBerry PlayBook will soon be launched in the US and hopefully soon the rest of the world will follow. BlackBerry's tablet challenger into the market will be available in a lot of retail stores in the US and via a press release, Office Depot have announced that by April 19, the PlayBook will be available both online and in their stores.


Microsoft releases "NoDo" updates in the US and the UK


The Windows Phone 7 "NoDo" update, the update that everyone using a WP7 device is waiting for. Microsoft have initially released a "pre NoDo" update to WP7 devices which caused havoc with the Samsung devices running on WP7. I have also reported about Microsoft officially launching the update via there Windows Phone update history page. But we never had reports about someone getting the update.

Amazon UK starts taking pre-orders of the Galaxy Tab WiFi version


Oh yeah! I remember! The original Samsung Galaxy Tab WiFi only version that was announced to be available in Q1 of this year in the US is now making news. Although it has not yet been launched the tablet is said to be shipping in the US in April 4. Across the pond, Amazon UK starts taking your pre-orders for those who ares still interested with the device.


Nokia E6-00 photoed and filmed



In this blog this will be the first time this leaked phone from the Finnish phone maker will be talked about. This have been leaked before and since it has been leaked a lot already I've decided to blog about it, even if this aint't a WP7 device. The E6-00, as pictured above, is a candybar QWERTY type phone running on Symbian and aside from the photo above it also starred in a video which you will be able to watch right after the break.

RIM's BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) gets updated to 5.0.2.12


BlackBerry's very popular BlackBerry Messenger app and service have been updated! The app which is also coming to Android and iOS devices soon, gets an update which includes usual bug fixes (what are updates for) and maybe some new features. There is no changelog with this update or release so that's why I am guessing.


Mozilla released Firefox 4 for Android and Maemo devices


Firefox 4 for mobile, actually just for Android and Maemo, is now available for download. The non-profit organization have finally announced the release of their mobile browser and to all those who are Android and Maemo users you can now download the application.

Acer Iconia-6120 touchbook gets a $1,200 price tag in the US and Canada


The Acer Iconia-6120 or in my blog is just named as the Acer Iconia, is a dual-touchscreen notebook that was announced last year. The notebook is priced in Spain at €1,499 locally, in the Philippines, the notebook gets a P70,900 price tag. In the US, which this post is all about, Acer have given it a $1,200 price tag. Pretty neat actually for this cool dual-toucscreen notebook.

[Local] PLDT acquires 51% of Digitel Telecommunications Phils.


PLDT or the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co., today, acquired a 51.55% stake of Digitel Telecommunications Phils. The Gokongwei owned company closed the stock-to-stock transaction between PLDT with a transfer of stock worth P74.1 billion. With this acquisition, PLDT currently holds 67% of the Philippines' Cellular market. Gokonwei Group will also be getting a 12.8% stake at PLDT. 

LG Optimus 2X officially launches in Australia



Yup, the phone is already available in the Australian market. We've already heard about the LG Optimus 2X to be launched in the land down under. The phone first broke into the light in it's home turf in South Korea, already available for pre-order in the UK, and will be heading to the US shores via T-Mobile and will be known as the T-Mobile G2X. Today, Australia is the next country to be getting it.

HTC Evo 3D coming to the European market



Ok, so HTC have already announced that the Droid branded Incredible S, in the US, will be available globally. I think it would be very unfair for the world if their first 3D capable smartphone would only be available in the States via Sprint. It is just fair if they announce the HTC Evo 3D around the world, right? First, it's coming to Europe and for sure the rest of the world should be getting the phone too.


Nokia unveils new font face and branding - Nokia Pure

Nokia, the Finnish mobile manufacturer and in fact the world's largest mobile phone maker, have unveiled their new font and branding that we should expect and see in products, packaging, and ads, within 2011. This is entirely Stephen Elops way of moving the company forward. Also, the font they have just unveiled looks similar or familiar for those who have used a phone with WP7 running in it. You get it? Microsoft and Nokia's partnership.


Googe Chrome Beta: updated to version 11.0.696.25



Google have released a new update to the Chrome Beta channel. This update, version 11.0.696.25, is available for the Mac, Windows, Linux, and Chrome Frame platforms. As a norm, the update resolves known issues found from the previous release of Chrome Beta. Head over the break to check out what are these issues that are fixed on this update.

LG Optimus Big a 4.3" smartphone with LG's Nova display to come soon?



According to Xportsnews, a Korean website, which reported this news about LG soon to announce the LG Optimus Big. Now, the report also notes that this smartphone will be featuring LG's Nova display, 4.3" of it, and will sport a 1GHz single-core processor.

LG gets the job in creating the Pure Google Tablet - Google Nexus tablet



Google, the creator of Android, apparently needs a smartphone or a tablet in order for it to push the latest released version of the OS, for them to test (of course). Google is reported to be talking with LG with regards to creating the "Pure Google" tablet. Like the HTC-made Nexus One and the Samsung-made Nexus S, the Google Nexus tablet (that's how they call it), will be getting the latest version of Android's tablet optimized platform. These is a report by Mobile Review, which is still unconfirmed. The tablet is touted to be available in "mid-Summer of early Autumn". If true, then this is a rumor that we will all take, "juicy" and sumptuous.

Samsung Series 9 notebook officially has a little brother - an 11.6" brethren


The Samsung Series 9, the Korean giant's answer to the MacBook Air, was announced during CES 2011 in Las Vegas with only one kind, the 13.3-incher. We know that Apple made two kinds of MacBook Airs, the 13-incher and then it has a little brother which is an 11-incher. I thought that the Series 9 from Samsung will only be a 13.3" laptop until today.

Mozilla Firefox 4 after 48 hours - infograph



Mozilla, the company or community responsible for one of the most popular browsers in the world, Firefox, have made a very informative inforgraph of the Firefox 4. The infograph basically tells us, again, how Firefox rules the browser market. Other competitors vying to get a piece or a chunk of that market like, Google Chrome, Opera and Internet Explorer just seem to just stare at the master do its stuff. But, of course, Google Chrome's popularity and rise is not something we can just ignore. Anyway, head over the break to check out Mozilla's infographic photo that they have made. 


The Nokia E7 to officially launch in the UK in April



Yeah, the Nokia E7, a device announced last year that until now is still not available, at least in all markets worldwide. In the Philippines, where Nokia rules the market for mobile phones, the E7 will be launched in March 31. In the US market its already available for pre-order. Then we have the UK. Three UK first announced the E7 to be offered by them. But when is the phone really gonna be launched?

Twitter for iPad gets updated comes with photo and video capture



Twitter have updated their app for the iPad. Twitter for iPad version 3.3.2 comes with photo and video capture, since the iPad 2 now has two cameras. The new feature simply allows you to capture video or photos on your iPad and quickly share it on your Twitter.


Samsung releases Galaxy Player 70 (Galaxy WiFi 5) video ad


Apparently, the Galaxy WiFi 5 in Samsung's home turf will be named as the Galaxy Player 70. The 5" PMP (Portable Music Player) gets a video promotion for the Korean market, where depicted by the video, is ruled by Android.

US Cellular's Samsung Mesmerize gets Android 2.2 Froyo


US Cellular's own version of the Samsung Galaxy S, the Samsung Mesmerize, is now getting the Android 2.2 Froyo update! Samsung announced this via a tweet. The update, unfortunately, will not be OTA (Over-The-Air) so you need to have your PCs in order for you to get the update.

ZTE announces the Style S Android smartphone and the V11 10" Honeycomb tablet


ZTE, the Chinese company who is currently the world's fourth largest mobile phone manufacturer, have unveiled their high-end Android smartphone offering during the CTIA 2011 in Orlando, Florida. The ZTE Style S' full specs haven't been disclosed yet. The photo (courtesy of Endgadget), seems to be showing a dummy Style S displayed at the ZTE CTIA 2011 booth. Anyway, the smartphone will be running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread when launched and sports a 4.3" touch screen display.


Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 to get Android 2.3 Gingerbread


This is extremely good news for people who uses the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10! Sony Ericsson have once said that the Xperia family of smartphones (excluding the new ones) will stay with Android 2.1 Eclair and will not be upgraded to any higher version of the Android OS. Fortunately, the Swedish company changed their minds and have announced that the Xperia X10 will get not 2.2 Froyo but Android 2.3 Gingerbread in the end of Q2 or early Q3 of this year!


Apple releases iOS 4.3.1 for the iPhone, iPad, & iPod Touch


The company from Cupertino, California, have officially released the next version to their mobile platform! iOS 4.3.1 is now available for your downloading needs for the iPhone, iPad, and the iPod Touch. I was able to read an article about someone porting iOS 4.3.1 into an iPhone before, but decided not to blog about it since I thought it would take a month or so before it gets released.

Samsung renames original Galaxy Tab 10.1 to 10.1V - Thinner version won't be sold in the UK?



We already know that the Korean giant announced their Android 3.0 tablet challenger during the Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona, Spain. The "re announcement" of the same tablet in a different event at a different place (CTIA 2011 in Florida) was a surprise. I thought they were only gonna announce the Galaxy Tab 8.9 but they also announced a much sleeker Galaxy Tab 10.1

Facebook starts rolling out a new feature called Facebook Question


Facebook added a new feature called Facebook Question. This feature's purpose is for a user to quickly get answers the way they want their questions to be answered. The feature is introduced today and I was able to try it and somehow learn how to use it.

Skype 5.1 now available for Mac


Skype have released Skype 5.1 for Mac! The update which includes new features and fixes many known issues with the Skype app for Mac. Skype highly recommends that all Mac users upgrade their Skype to the latest version to now only get these new features but most importantly to get rid of the bugs and whatnots.


BlackBerry PlayBook to officially run Android apps


Why are apps important? Well, for most, they are the life blood of a mobile device these days. Most would rather choose a device that would and could run more apps than the competition can. With these kind announcements it would considerably increase the number of apps, obviously, that the BlackBerry PlayBook can run. 

Google Chrome Stable: Updated to 10.0.648.204


Another update is pushed to the Stable channel of Google Chrome. The update, version 10.0.648.204, is for the Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome Frame platforms. This update will now support password manager on Linux. Other security fixes listed after the break.


Facebook's Social Ads now starting to roll-out to users - How to opt out


Facebook, the world's largest social networking site, have started rolling out their new Social Ads campaign. The feature, unlike your ordinary ads, will allow companies to use your name and photo in advertisements which are targeted to your friends.

The Nokia E7, the latest Symbian^3 handset from the Finnish phone manufacturer may look like an N8 but it rocks a physical sliding QWERTY keyboard. The phone is expected to be available in stores on March 31 with a tag price of P32,000. For those who pre-ordered the device should start getting their hardware "within the next few days".


March 25th! International launching of the iPad 2 (pricing included)



All of us should probably know by now that March 25th is the date when the iPad 2 will officially launch outside the US. The device, which first launched in the US last March 11th, will now be available in 25 additional countries.

[Local] Intel officially announces the 2nd Generation Intel Sandy Bridge chips in the Philippines


Intel have officially unveiled their 2nd Generation Intel Sandy Bridge chips in the Philippines. It's apparent that these are the revamped and redesigned Cougar Point chipsets. If you can remember the first wave of these chips were found to have a design flaw which of course caused a bit of chaos here and there.

Mozilla Firefox 4 gets downloaded 7.1 million times within 24 hours of its release


This report clearly shows how Firefox is so popular compared to Microsoft's Internet Explorer. I have posted before that the Internet Explorer 9 RTM within 24 hours of its release was download 2.3 million times. Well, Mozilla surpasses that number and have reported that Firefox 4 RTM (final release) was download 7.1 million times.

HTC Flyer WiFi only version will be exclusive at Best Buy


So if you get the HTC tablet at Sprint it's be named the HTC Evo View 4G but if you buy it not from Sprint (apparently only at Best Buy) it'd be named the HTC Flyer. Anyway, Best Buy have announced on Tuesday that they will be exclusively selling the WiFi version of the HTC Flyer. For those who wants the HTC tablet without the 4G fuss and the montly bills from Sprint then you can only get it at Best Buy for an undisclosed price.

[Local] Samsung outs Series 9 ultrathin laptop in the Philippines


The world's thinnest laptop, the Samsung Series 9 gets announced and gets a hefty price tag of P79,990. The Series 9 is a laptop that directly hits on the MacBook Air for being the thinnest laptop around. The Series 9 is made from Duralumin which gives it that strong and durable look to it. That material is the same used in building fighter jets.
