Hyundai enters the tablet market with the Hyundai T7


Hyundai, is actually a huge company. They are based in South Korea but they are like a company that makes big things like cars, ships and whatnot. Recently, the Korea-based corporation, kind of, announced their entrance to the tablet market by announcing, kind of, the Hyundai T7 Android tablet. Priced at a mouth watering $166, the tablet should be able to enter the market as a good choice for people looking for a good tablet. The thing it, Hyundai's gonna have problems with consumers trying to decipher why a ship builder made a tablet and is actually selling it. But Samsung's a ship builder too, so yeah.


Google Chrome updated to 24.0.1312.57


Google has updated their browser, Google Chrome, to 24.0.1312.57. It's another minor update just to fix broken things on Chrome 24. If you want to know what are the fixes on this update head over here. You can update your browsers (if it is not set to automatically update) by clicking through Settings > About Google Chrome. You can also download the update via the official download page.

Acer announced the Liquid E1


Acer, that phone manufacturer that keeps on churning out mid-range smartphones, has announced the Liquid E1. This is another of Acer's mid-range smartphones that run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Now since this is a mid-range device, expect the price to be lower than those high-end devices but also, expect the specs to be not so stellar.

Google Chrome updated to 24.0.1312.56


Google, yesterday, released a minor update to Google Chrome 24! The update will bring your Chrome browsers up to version 24.0.1312.56. This update is basically there to bring in stability fixes. One of those is that this update "fixed performance of mouse wheel scrolling". Update your Chrome now! This version is also available on its official download page.

UK: Three UK to offer the Nokia Lumia 920 soon

Three UK has announced that they will soon be offering Nokia's latest Windows Phone flagship device, the Lumia 920. For those who still do not know what the Nokia Lumia 920 packs, head over here to check out the device's specs. Anyway, going back to Three, the British network carrier has not said anything about an exact date when they will actually start selling the device, they just said "soon". They did not even mention anything about the phone's plans or pricing. Anyway, I'll keep you posted about this.


Archos announced 4 tablets for 2013! The Archos Titanium Line of tablets


Archos, at CES 2013, is raining the event and the world with 4 tablets! These tablets are dubbed as the Titanium line of devices by Archos, hence, each version of the device is called so and they just added numbers to indicate the size of the screen. The line range from a 7-incher to the largest being a 10.1-inch tablet. All are running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and all sport an HD display. The Archos 97 Titanium seems to be running away among the family in terms of the screen because it packs a 9.7" (2048x1536) screen. That's just amazing. The line also vary in CPU, from a dual-core to a quad-core.


PHIL: The Samsung Galaxy Note II's Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update now available for download


An avid follower of TechPump sent this in. The Samsung Galaxy Note II in the Philippines has started receiving the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update. It is a 260MB update so you might want to use your WiFi network in downloading this package. For those who owns a Galaxy Note II, you can now check your devices for the update by tapping through, Settings > About Device > Software Update > Check for updates. The device should prompt you about it. You can also get the update via Samsung Kies. Just plug your device to your machines and run Samsung Kies. It should then detect your device and prompt you of any updates available.

USA: Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and 7.0 now available


In the US, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and Tab 2 7.0 both are now receiving the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update. This update, according to UV, is for those tabs that are WiFi-only variants of them. Anyway, for those who are in the US and own one of these devices, then go ahead and check on your tablets if the update is ready for download. After the update then enjoy the 4.1.1 Jelly Bean features! The update, by the way, is administered via OTA or via Samsung Kies.




The Samsung Galaxy S II Plus


Samsung's first smartphone to be announced in 2013, comes in the form of a device that was very popular back in 2011. Dubbed as the Samsung Galaxy S II Plus, this device, apparently, is an upgraded version of the beautifully designed Galaxy S II (Samsung's 2011 Android flagship smartphone). The Galaxy S II Plus, according to Samsung's presser, combines the performance of the SGS II with the nature-inspired UI of their new TouchWiz UI. That, I believe, means that all the great features in the latest TouchWiz has will be on this device like S-Beam, Smart Stay, Direct Call, and etc.

Google Chrome 24!

Google has released the latest stable version of their very popular browser, Chrome. The new version that brings your Chrome browsers to Chrome 24 promises a faster boot time. The time it takes to double click the browser and it popping up on your machines is, according to theory, cut. This release carries the version number 24.0.1312.52 and is now available for download via the browser or via the official download page. By the way, this update includes the latest version of Flash which brings in stability improvements and also speed. Enjoy Chrome 24!

ZTE announces the Grand S a 5-incher 1080p smartphone


ZTE, at CES 2013, announced what seems to be a phablet. The smartphone is dubbed the ZTE Grand S and packs a 5" 1080p full HD display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.7GHz. The device, like most of the high-end Android devices today sports 2GB of RAM. The device is expected to be launched around the second quarter of 2013 which means, if you want to get one, you have time to save up and a lot of time to wait.

Lenovo announced a 5.5" smartphone at CES 2013 - The Lenovo K900


At CES 2013, the China-based company, Lenovo, announced what seems to be a competitor to the successful Samsung Galaxy Note II. That specific market of devices that Samsung started with their announcement of the Galaxy Note I back in 2011 has shown a lot of acceptance not only by the market but also by other OEMs. Lenovo is one of them with their announcement of their latest smartphone that is the world's first 1080p smartphone to be powered by an Intel Atom processor. Ans since it will technically be categorized as a phablet, it sports a 5.5" 1080p HD display. With regards to its availability, Lenovo said that the K900 smartphone will be available first in China, of course, and will be rolled out to selected markets after that.

Firefox 18 now available for download


Mozilla has released Firefox 18, the latest iteration of the popular web browser. This is actually a late post but anyway, the newest version of Firefox now supports the power of those Retina displays on Macs. Aside from that, the makers of the browser also updated their Firefox for Android browser which comes in with a new phishing and malware features to help protect you from those devil forces on the internet. Acer announced the Iconia B1


At CES 2013, Acer is still in the tablet game of it all with their announcement of the Acer Iconia B1. It is poised to be the most inexpensive Android tablet you can buy with a brand on it (you, know a brand almost everyone knows). Acer did not say anything about its price though, unfortunately. Lastly, do not think that the Iconia B1 does not pack a punch when it comes to specs because it will be priced as low as Acer can put it. 

Huawei announced their first Windows 8 smartphone - The Huawei Ascend W1


At CES 2013, the China-based phone maker, Huawei, announced their first Windows Phone 8 smartphone, dubbed as the Huawei Ascend W1. Like the Ascend line of mobile devices from the maker, the Ascend W1 is a high-end smartphone and follows, in general, the design aesthetics of the Ascend family. The device is touted to be launched in Russia and in Asia this month.

The Sony Xperia ZL


Here's the other phone from Sony. This is the Sony Xperia ZL, announced together with the Xperia Z. Base on the specs, this device is the lesser of the two. It loses the dust and water resistant feature that the Xperia Z has, this is still a stunning device. It sports, also, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor and still has a 13MP rear camera capable of recording a full HD 1080p video. Like the Xperia Z, the ZL also sports a 5" Full HD 1080x1920 display and of course that Sony Mobile Bravia Engine 2.

Sony Mobile announced the Xperia Z


After a long break from those times when phone makers announce their babies to the world, at CES 2013, the Japanese brand, Sony Mobile, has announced and presented to the world their first ever, not to mention a brilliantly designed, quad-core smartphone. Dubbed as the Sony Xperia Z, this is one of the two variants of the device, the other one I will be posting after this. The Xperia Z is probably, Sony's new Android flagship smartphone, ready to take on the likes of the Galaxy S III or HTC's One X (or X+). The Xperia Z, is officially the first smartphone to be announced in 2013 and has a long way to go from here. We still have to wait and see what smartphones the other OEMs out there will be announcing this year. For now, let us just enjoy the beauty and brilliance of the Xperia Z. The device is expected to be launched globally in the 1st quarter of this year for an undisclosed price.
