Google outs new Google Search UI on tablets

Google in their quest to bring the best of their services to users have released a new UI to the world's most used search engine on tablet devices. So since it's the UI of www.google.com on your tablets that they have improved , you should then expect things like better like bigger text, buttons, and other things that you usually tap for you to get to somewhere.

Asus South Africa releases official photos of the EeePad Slider

The first official press photos of the next Android tablet that Asus is due to launch, the Asus EeePad Slider, was released by Asus South Africa's Facebook page. After a very successful launching of the blockbuster Asus EeePad Transformer, the EeePad Slider is the next to make a scene in the tablet market. 

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 finally and officially gets Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread

Finally, the Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread update of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 has started rolling out. I know that this is real good news to Xperia X10 users out there since this is basically a step further of what SE have thought. Anyway, we won't dwell on that. You can go head over to Sony Ericsson's Support page  for more information about the update. As always, the update is rolled out in stages so not everyone will get it at the same time, a bit of patience is required if you still ain't getting it, but at least you know that it is coming.

US: Samsung Galaxy S II's sign up page now live

One indicator that a device is nearing it's launch date is it's sign up page. Good news to the US consumers because the Samsung Galaxy S II's sign up page is now live! The smartphone that is said to be the best that ever land the Earth is finally nearing it's arrival in the US. We already know that a3 of major carriers in the US will be offering this smartphone, with different names of course. Samsung makes the Samsung Galaxy R official with a press release

Samsung have made the Galaxy R official by announcing the smartphone with a press release. The Galaxy R as we all know is the heavier, thicker, and the slower (by 200MHz) version of the Samsung Galaxy S II. The Galaxy R is basically the same with the Galaxy S II except for the processor in which the Galaxy R sports nVidia's Tegra 2 1GHz dual-core processor. The screen on the Galaxy R is not Super AMOLED Plus but rather the SLCD display which still gives you one of the best screen technologies out there. What the Galaxy R has that is, I believe, superior over the SGS II is the fact that the Galaxy R is made with metal which gives it a more stylish look and a good feel, I am sure, on your hands.

Lenovo puts a launch date of the ThinkPad Tablet on their website - August 23rd

The Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet that was one of the three tablets that the Chinese company announced a while back now has a date attached to it regarding when it will become available. If you try to head over to the tablets' dedicated webpage on Lenovo's official website, you will be able to see that this tablet will become available when August 23 comes. The other Android powered tablet that Lenovo announced, the IdeaPad K1 is already available fore pre-order.

Dell officially announces the Dell Streak 10 Pro in China

The Dell Streak Pro is officially official! The tablet, Dell's third, after the Dell Streak 5 and 7 will be launched in the Chinese market in the coming weeks and should be available at Dell's online store. With regards to pricing the Android Honeycomb powered tablet will be available for RMB 3,699 (US$575). The specs of the device are listed below.

Twitter, a social network where, if you were the owner, would find it hard to put ads in your website, right? Well, they got through that situation with Promoted Trending Topics. So what's next to Twitter's advertising? Well, how about promote a tweet? Today, Twitter announced that they will now be pushing this new stuff to their website and is still on it's testing phase so not everyone can see a promoted tweet on their timelines yet.

HP announces the HP TouchPad to come to Asia Pacific in August

HP have officially announces that their tablet challenger, the HP TouchPad, will be arriving in Asia Pacific in August. Specifically, the countries (city) who are included in this announcement are Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong. And that is it, basically, no word on pricing but as the time draws near when the tablet will be launched in these countries the pricing should be given already. For those who are waiting for the HP TouchPad on these countries, August is the month you want to watch out.

Samsung officially announces the White Galaxy S II will launch in the UK on September 1

Yes, and just like that, Samsung has officially announced the White version of the Samsung Galaxy S II. After being talked about yesterday (or a few days back on other techblogs), this must be the quickest device to be leaked and then officially announced. Ok, I know I am exaggerating but yeah, officially the phone will be launched in the UK come September 1.

UK: HTC Evo 3D delayed in the UK to launch in September

The HTC Evo 3D was already confirmed to come to the British shores but then Vodafone UK decided to cancel their launching of the smartphone for one major reason, HTC has confirmed that the smartphone will be delayed in the UK until September. HTC told TechRadar that they will be pushing the launch date. Here is what HTC said to the UK techblog,  "We can confirm that the HTC EVO 3D will be available to UK customers through Carphone Warehouse from September 2011."

USA: Sprint now accepts pre-orders of the Motorola Photon 4G

Sprint's Motorola Photon 4G was already available for pre-order at Walmart but if you like your mobile phone business transactions directly with the carrier, then you'd be glad to know that Sprint is now accepting orders of their first 4G capable Motorola handset. Sprint puts a $199.99 contract price to the smartphon while Walmart offers a $50 lesser price tag to the same phone. Anyway, you can head over to Sprint and check out their offers. 

White Samsung Galaxy S II leaked

A white version of the Samsung Galaxy S II has made it to the internet. So what does this differ from the original (black) SGS II? Nothing, really, just the color. Just like the white version of the iPhone 4. Anyway, reports have it that this white colored Galaxy S II should be available by late August, in the UK, most probably. Until Samsung or a network carrier makes this official, I'd be blogging about it and will be spreading the news. For now, just enjoy the photo, I know you are drooling for it.

Skype 5.5 for Windows now available for download

Skype have released version 5.5 for Windows! I just updated my Skype to 5.5 and it still says Beta, anyway the new version of Skype for Windows brings in a lot of new features that was brought about by user feedback. Skype says that it is recommended you update your Skype now if you are running on Windows.

IND: Motorola Xoom gets Android 3.1 Honeycomb

The world's first Android Honeycomb tablet is apparently not the world's first tablet to get the latest and newest version of the Honeycomb platform. Today (July 29), Motorola Xooms in India should start getting the Android 3.1 Honeycomb update via OTA. Other Honeycomb tablets are already rolling out their 3.2 update, but regardless who gets there first, any update is appreciated. 

Asus EeePad Transformer's Android 3.2 Honeycomb tablet should have started rollin out today

Yesterday, Asus's Twitter account tweeted and said that the their EeePad Transformer table should get the Android 3.2 Honeycomb update starting today. The update, like most software updates, will be rolled out in stages and I will say this again, everyone will get it but not at the same time. But, that is what they just tweeted, they did not say which country or continent will get it first. But anyway, your Transformers should notify you of a new software available for installation since this will be an OTA update.

Samsung to hold an event on August 3rd in NYC will unveil a major software update for the Galaxy Tab 10.1

Samsung on August 3 in New York City, will be unveiling a major software update to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. This software update will, apparently, be the main feature during this event and that software includes a "fully customization Samsung TouchWiz UX with Live Panel and Mini Apps services". So for those who were invited and is at the event will get to know more what this software update will be. Also Samsung will be offering an on site software upgrade for those who has a Galaxy Tab 10.1 with them.

The Vodafone 555 Blue Facebook Phone

Aside from the HTC ChaCha and the Salsa, two HTC Facebook smartphones, Vodafone has the 555 Blue Facebook Phone. Now, unlike the two HTCs this phone ain't a smartphone. Since it will be an extraordinary phone with deep Facebook integration, it will be a phone that everyone can afford. For now all we know is that the phone should be available in August and should also be available in all countries where Vodafone is.

The first Windows Phone Mango handset made by Fujitsu & Toshiba

Fujitsu Toshiba Mobile Communication Ltd., which is a joint venture of the two Japanese companies, announced the world's first Windows Phone Mango handset, the Fujitsu Toshiba IS12T. The phone will be available in September when KDDI will first launch it in Japan. The smartphone is not your ordinary smartphone since it is, I believe, the first water proof and dust proof Windows Phone device.

Facebook for BlackBerry PlayBook 2.0 brings in Facebook Places and Events into the app

Facebook for BlackBerry PlayBook 2.0 was released to bring in two new things into the app. First, this version of the Facebook app will bring in Facebook Places, allowing you to check-in to places you've been and see who are at the place and also view comments on that specific place. The second thing that this version of the app brings in is Facebook Events, and just like Facebook Events on the web version of Facebook, the app will now be able to allow you to view events, view events that you were invited and RSVP an event, and also view comments on the event's wall. USA: T-Mobile releases Android Gingerbread OTA update to the G2X

T-Mobile USA have officially released the OTA update for their T-Mobile G2X (LG Optimus 2X)! The update which will bring in the Android Gingerbread platform to the device is now ready to be installed into your smartphone. Since the update is now available via OTA, your phone should notify you about a new software available for it. The update is expected to give the handset better battery life, improved disabling Car Home, cures the issue about the device rebooting on its own, and an improvement of the operation of the front facing camera. Microsoft signs off an RTM build of the Windows Phone Mango

Microsoft's latest version of their mobile operating system, Windows Phone Mango, was signed off to Release To Manufacturing. What does that mean? Well, aside from the fact that it is nearing the time of this version of the OS to be released for download so that your Windows Phone 7 devices will get the benefits of this OS, it also is a sign that this version of the platform is ready to go to network operators and OEMs so that they can start optimizing the mobile OS and prep it for the update process.

HTC Puccini breaks cover

Remember the HTC Puccini? HTC's 10" Android tablet that was first seen back in May. Then the specs came after it and then we have this. Looks like an official photo from HTC of the 10-incher. BGR have two photos of the tablet, the other one shows off the tablet's rear (photo below) and we can clearly see a dual built-in speaker of the tablet.

USA: Verizon to officially offer and make the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G LTE tablet available starting July 28th

Verizon's Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 that packs 4G LTE connectivity is officially announced to start being available on July 28. The tablet will be available in two variants, a 16GB and a 32GB which will cost you $529 & $629, respectively.  Just like the WiFi only version of the top Android Honeycomb tablet in the market today, the 4G packing tablet will also be sporting a 1GHz nVidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor, a 10.1" WXGA (1200x800) touchscreen display, a 3MP rear facing camera with HD video recording, a 2MP front facing camera, dual built-in speakers, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, and GPS. Samsung Galaxy R gets a demo video should be launched in the UK soon

Yes, you read the title of this post right, the still unconfirmed Samsung Galaxy Z or the Galaxy R in the UK gets a demo video and is also said to be launched soon in the UK "pretty soon". We already know that the Galaxy R will be the lesser priced version of the Galaxy S II. The Galaxy R sports a 1GHz nVidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor and a 4.3" SLCD touchscreen display, as opposed to the Galaxy S II which sports a 1.2GHz Samsung Exynos dual-core processor and a 4.3" Super AMOLED Plus display. A Samsung slider smartphone gets rendered heading to AT&T

Most other techblogs would say that this is the Samsung Galaxy S II for AT&T, but I don't think it will be, or unless when this smartphone gets official and is AT&T's version of the Galaxy S II. Anyway, BGR got this rendered photo and shared it to everyone and said that this is a Samsung slider smartphone powered by the Android OS and is heading for AT&T. The photo is all the detail we have like the four-button Android layout. The phone is expected to come to AT&T in the coming months (but it ain't official yet).

Apple releases iOS 4.3.5 update to iOS devices to fix security vulnerability

Apple on Monday have released iOS 4.3.5 to fix a security vulnerability with certificate validation. The update is available for the iPhone 4 & 3GS, iPad and iPad 2, and the iPod Touch 4th and 3rd gen. For those who has the iPhone 4 with Verizon, Apple has also released an equivalent version for you, iOS 4.2.10. The update is now available via iTunes.

USA: AT&T officially gives the LG Thrill 4G a price and will launch "in the coming weeks"

After announcing the renamed LG Optimus 3D, AT&T have not yet officially told anyone about the phone's price and when it will be available in the US, until today. AT&T have officially given us the price of the LG Thrill 4G. AT&T will be offering the LG Thrill 4G for only $99 on contract and that is a price for a smartphone that packs a 1GHz dual-core processor and 3D capabilities. The phone is scheduled to be shipped "in the coming weeks" which coincides perfectly with the rumored August 7th launching of the device. The LG Thrill 4G is set to be the US' second 3D capable handset after the HTC Evo 3D which is now available at Sprint.

USA: Motorola released the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread update for the Atrix 4G

AT&T's Motorola Atrix 4G now officially gets the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread update! The  handset's support page says so and should bring in OS enhancements and overall improvements into your Atrix 4Gs. The update is also expected to bring in better web browsing, HD videoplayback, and "other miscellaneous updates". Of course, that is not to mention all the Gingerbread goodness. Motorola have brought in Firefox 4.0 into the smartphone as a third-party browser and made it a pre-loaded app on your Atrix 4G. The update, according to Android Community, is now being pushed OTA so for those who owns an Atrix 4G, enjoy your Gingerbread-ed device.

Nokia Maps now available to iPhone and Android

Nokia Maps is now available to iOS and Android! It's really how Nokia will take on Google Maps or Bing Maps (if it has a mobile version). Introducing and making their own mapping service available outside Nokia phones or Symbian. Nokia maps can now be accessed via your iPhone or your Android device by simply going to maps.nokia.com using your phone's browser. The site is accessible if you are running on iOS 4 and  higher or Android 2.2 Froyo and higher.

Google Nexus S 4G to get Adroid 2.3.5 Gingerbread update in July 25th

The Samsung made Nexus S 4G is confirmed to get the Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread update come July 25th. This specific 4G capable Nexus S is only being sold via Sprint in the US and is said to be plagued with a slow 4G WiMax connection, hence the update. Aside from a boost of 4G connectivity with Sprint, the update is also expected to bring in changes and whatnots into the smartphone.

UK: HTC Evo 3D now up for pre-orders in the UK - free with £33.50/month plan

The HTC Evo 3D is now available for your pre-orders in the UK. The smartphone is being offered by Play.com for free with a £33.50/month plan or you can get it for £499.99 unlocked. The HTC Evo 3D is the company's first 3D capable device and is the successor of the world's first 4G capable handset, the HTC Evo 4G.

RockMelt gets updated to should run smoothly with your Mac OS X Lion

RockMelt released an update to their browser which should make the browser more stable and should give you better performance. The update is said to have fixed 130 known issues with the last version and also incorporates more Chromium enhancements.

USA: T-Mobile makes the HTC Wildfire S official to be launched in August 3

T-Mobile have made the coming of the HTC Wildfire S official via a press release. The smartphone, apparently the successor to the original Wildfire, will be launched by T-Mobile when August 3 comes for $80 on contract. The smartphone runs on the latest version of Android, 2.3.3 Gingerbread, and sports a 600MHz processor, a 3.2"TFT LCD touchscreen display, 512MB of RAM, a 5MP rear facing camera, WiFi, and Bluetooth. USA: Lenovo's IdeaPad K1 is now available for pre-order for $499.99

The just announced Lenovo IdeaPad K1 has quickly gone up for pre-order at the Lenovo online shop. Unfortunately, on the  32GB version of the tablet is available at their online store and will cost you $499.99 for the White and Silver colored tablet and the Red and White colored tablet. If you wish to get the cover with the tablet then Lenovo will be selling the same tablet bundled with the leather cover for $519. The tablet is scheduled to be shipped when August 1st comes. For those who wants Lenovo's own Honeycomb tablet then head over to their online store and pre-order yours now.

[Update] USA: Google Nexus S to come to AT&T in July 24th via Best Buy

Ever since the Nexus S was launched, it was only available from either T-Mobile USA or from Sprint (Nexus S 4G). Today, Google have announced that they will be launching the AT&T optimized Nexus S this weekend. In July 24th, you should start seeing the AT&T branded Nexus S in Best Buy stores nationwide for $99.99 on contract.

Microsoft launched Bing's own mobile site to iOS, Android and BlackBerry

Microsoft have launched the mobile version of their Google (the search engine) counterpart to smartphones! Bing mobile is expected to offer Bing's daily image, hotspots, links to maps, directions, and local information. The mobile site of Bing search should be available to these platforms, iOS, Android 2.0 (or higher), and BlackBerry 6. Try it now! head over to m.bing.com on your smartphone's browser.

Apple releases Safari 5.1 brings in Sandboxing technology

Apple have released and made available the Safari 5.1 update for Mac and Windows. This update which is 19MB large will bring in more security while you browse the world wide web in the form of the Sandboxing technology. This will make Safari the second and browser in the market that incorporates this technology into a browser, second to Google Chrome. The Sandbox tehcnology that this browser has will only be available to those who are already running on Mac OS X Lion and is, I believe, not available on Windows. Anyway, update your Safaris now via the Apple Software updater or you can manually download Safari 5.1 from it's official download page.

Google Maps for Android now has 3D view for London and Paris and 16 other cities

Google have added more cities that features 3D views on Google Maps for Android. These cities include London, Paris, Singapore, Barcelona, Stockholm, Lisbon, and Boulder. South Africa  gets 11 of it's cities .3D capability. To try out the 3D view in your Android handset simply zoom in and you should be able to view your city in 3D. This does not require any updates as long as you run on the latest version of Google Maps and you have Android 2.0 or higher.

IND: Asus launches the EeePad Transformer in India for Rs. 32,990

The Asus EeePad Transformer is finally launched in the Indian market with a tag price of Rs. 32,990. For that price you'd be getting the 16GB WiFi only version of the Honeycomb powered device. If you want the keyboard dock, which basically is the selling point of this tablet, then worry not, since the price includes the dock (bundled into the package).

USA: Virgin Mobile's Motorola Triumph is now available for $299.99

Right on schedule, the Motorola Triumph is now available from Virgin Mobile. The carrier is offering the smartphone that was officially announced recently for only $299.99 off contract. The Triumph is also available tied with a contract starting from $35/month and that comes with unlimited texts and data and 300 minutes of calls. HTC ChaCha officially announced in India for Rs.15,990

After the HTC Salsa's availability in the Indian market, it's brethren, the QWERTY packing Facebook-centric smartphone, HTC ChaCha, is finally announced in the country. The Android powered Facebook phone will cost  Rs. 15,990.

Lenovo announces the ThinkPad and the IdeaPad K1 Android powered tablets

Lenovo have officially unveiled three tablets today, namely the Lenovo ThinkPad, IdeaPad K1, and the IdeaPad P1, the first two runs on Android and the latter runs on Windows 7. The two Android tablets will be available in the US, the UK, and in Germany (initially, for sure). Lenovo schedules the release of the ThinkPad in the US in August 2 and will be priced starting $479. The IdeaPad K1 will be available in Europe sometime in August with a price starting from €399 or more.

Mac OS X Lion now available from the Mac App Store

Of course, since the updates of the Mac Mini and the MacBook Air has been launched which comes with Mac OS X Lion, it is only natural for Apple to also launch the OS to other Mac users. Today, the Mac OS X Lion is finally available for the other Mac user out there as an upgrade from the Mac App Store. 

USA: Apple launches the updated Mac Mini tows in the Thunderbolt I/O, Faster CPUs, and an AMD Radeon HD

Not only is the MacBook Air gets an upgrade from the Cupertino-based company, Apple have also updated their Mac Mini and has confirmed that the MacBook has been discontinued. The new Mac Mini comes with a newer and a faster CPU, the Thunderbolt I/O, and an AMD Radeon HD GPU. The SuperDrive slot that the previous Mac Mini had has been taken out, which means that the new Mac Mini does not sport any SuperDrive anymore. Starting at $599 you can get a new Mac Mini with an Intel Core i5 2.3GHz processor with Turbo Boost 2.0 (for up to 3.4GHz of processing power), 2GB of RAM, 500GB of HDD, Intel HD 3000 Graphics, and Mac OS X Lion.

USA: Apple announces the updated MacBook Air - Thunderbolt I/O and Intel Core i5 CPU

Apple officially launches and announces the updated line of MacBook Airs. The new MacBook Air is not a design change at all but rather a specs upgrade from the what Apple have unveiled and launched early this year. The updated brings to the MacBook Air the new Thunderbolt I/O that Apple and Intel have been made. Also, the new Air receives a higher and a much faster CPU with Intel's "Sandy Bridge" processor, the Intel Core i5. And, this new Air will also be the first laptop that will officially ship with the new Mac OS X Lion.

The world's first and only 3D capable tablet is coming to the Philippines. The tablet, LG Optimus Pad, will be available for pre-order starting today. LG is also puting a Php15,000 discount for those who will sign up for a pre-order of the tablet. UK: Samsung's Galaxy Z is coming to the UK as the Galaxy R

The Samsung Galaxy Z, the lower spec'd (a bit) Galaxy S II, was posted on Three Sweden and will be sporting Nvidia's Tegra 2 dual-core processor and is also said to be thicker and heavier than the SGS II. Anyway, today, the smartphone is also said to be coming to the UK and will be known as the Galaxy R. It is expected that the smartphone should be available by the end of this month, making the UK as the only other market to get the said handset.

Google Plus app is now available at the App Store!

The iOS app of Google's social network, Google Plus, is finally available for download at the App Store/iTunes. The app, apparently, was first made available for Android devices (in the US) when the social network was launched for it's test phase. Google promised that iOS would also be getting the application, and viola! The app was also announced on G+ by Google's Vic Gondutra. So, iDevice users! Download your G+ App now!
