Samsung is not yet done with their Unpacked: Special Episode in Florida, they are still at it, I think. Anyway, during that event they have announced, as expected, two tablets in the US. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 and the Galaxy Tab 10.1. These two tablets are the thinnest in their respective categories (display sizes). But the Galaxy Tab 8.9 is the thinnest regardless of the category. Both the Tab 8 and 10 are the thinnest tablets in the market.
When Steve Jobs announced the iPad 2 it was the thinnest tablet ever made but the iPad 2's hold of that crown is short lived since Samsung announced the ever thinner Galaxy Tab 8.9. How thin really? The iPad 2 measures 8.8mm thick while the Galaxy Tab 8.9 measures an astounding 8.6mm thick.
The other table, the Galaxy Tab 10.1, is also announced in the US. The device was already unveiled during MWC 2011 in Spain so why bother in announcing it again? Well, Samsung modified the tablet, they made it the world's thinnest and lightest 10" tablet. Amazing isn't it?
