Then there were the tablets, hybrid tablets as what we call these things. Aside from the Vibe Z, the Chinese tech giant also unveiled a slew of PCs from tablets, to AIOs. This is the Lenovo Miix 2 series which comes in either a 10-inch display or a larger 11-inch display. The Miix 2 apparently runs on Windows 8.1. Unfortunately, I cannot find the full specs of this series aside from what it packs as features.

Acer unveiled the Acer Iconia W3 Windows 8 tablet
The world's first 8-inch Windows 8 tablet was announced by Acer and is dubbed as the Acer Iconia W3. Being the world's first 8-incher W8 tablet it might own the market for a while before anybody else out there with another 8-incher. In terms of design, I believe Acer did a brilliant job with W3 and it sitting on that keyboard dock, stunning. According to GSMArena, the device will be launched starting June in the UK (base on the currency the blog used). Prolly it will also be launched somewhere else on the same month.

The world is ready for Windows 8
Yesterday, or 2 days ago, the world's largest software company launched and made Windows 8 available to the world with an event in New York. For those who are very eager to get Windows 8 into their PCs head over to http://microsoft.com to download it. The minimum requirements for the OS to work in a device is listed there. Of course, Windows 8 works best with a touchscreen PC but it should also work fine if it does not support the multi-touch functionality. I love Windows 8! And Microsoft will not just let the PC die just like that, hence, Windows 8. So yeah! Horay for Windows 8.

Asus Windows 8 line-up: Asus VIVO Book
Asus's Ultrabook, the VIVO Book which adds up to Asus already big family of Windows 8 devices they have announced yesterday. The VIVO Book is basically a Zenbook without the Zen. You'll understand what I mean once you get to compare the Zenbook Touch's specs and the VIVO Book's. Anyway head on over the break to check the ultrabook's specs.

Asus Windows 8 line-up: Asus Zenbook Touch
Remember the Asus Zenbook? Today, Asus will be calling it the Asus Zenbook Touch. The reason for that, apparently, is the fact that it now runs on Windows 8. Asus has two versions of this notebook, the Zenbook U500VZ and the UX31A. The difference between the two is that the former is larger than the latter. The U500VZ sports a 15.6" display compared to the 13.3" of the UX31A. Since the 15-incher is larger, it packs more specs than the smaller Zenbook.

Asus Windows 8 line-up: Asus Transformer Book
Here's the improved Transformer Book from Asus, of course. This hybrid was also announced by Asus back in July. Today, Asus is making it a reality, since Windows 8 is also a reality today. I do not have Asus' press release so I cannot tell you when this is coming to stores or how much this will cost but I have it's detailed specs sheet, so that, I can give.

Asus Windows 8 line-up: Asus Taichi
Asus has finally unveiled and announced their Windows 8 (or you can also say it as their 2012) line up of devices. We will start with this amazingly cool concept which they have announced back in July but did not really come into reality until now. Dubbed as the Asus Taichi this is the ultimate definition of a notebook/tablet hybrid. It sports 2 HD displays so you can easily switch from one mode to the other (which has 4 modes all in all). Of course, since this notebook runs on Windows 8 both display are touchscreen displays but is twice awesome.

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga "flip and fold" Windows 8 powered device [CES 2012]
The Lenovo Yoga, showcased by the China-based company at CES 2012, stands by its name. The laptop is capable of being folded and flipped over like a true notebook. This design concept is probably due to Windows 8's very unique feature. That feature if being able to switch between two UIs (the photo above shows one of the and the other UI is the normal and familiar Windows everyone knows).

Facebook officially releases to beta Facebook Messenger for Windows
Facebook has released to public beta Messenger for Windows. For those who are running on Windows can now download and try out what Facebook is bringing us here. The application was made for us to be able to chat, post statuses, check notifications, messages, and friend request even if you are not logged into Facebook.com. I am currently running the application now and it looks like that whole part of your Facebook on the right part where the ticker and friends who are online are listed. The application, again, is still on it's beta phase and should not be that perfect yet, as I experienced while using it and roaming around with it. Download Facebook Messenger for Windows (direct download link) here now!

Internet Explorer 9 updated to 9.0.3
Internet Explorer 9.0.3 is now available over at Windows Update. This update to Microsoft's own web browser is their cumulative security update. That means that this will bring in security vulnerability resolutions to your IE 9. Anyway, I won't dwell with this, because, Microsoft is talking gibberish on their blog. So, even if this post is a bit late, for those who still has not updated their IE 9s head over to Control Panel > Windows Update > and install the update that has something to do with Internet Explorer 9. That should bring your IE 9 to version 9.0.3 like mine.

Microsoft announces Windows 8
Microsoft gave a very deep demo on what Windows 8 will be offering when the OS finally goes to public (when its available generally to the public) during their Microsoft BUILD conference. So what are the things you should expect from Windows 8? Aside from a new UI, they call it Metro, Windows 8 is built with touch input into mind. That means, we should all be seeing Windows 8 into laptops, desktops, and on tablets. Microsoft won't just put into garbage what we all have loved and have known about Windows, Windows 8 with it's Metro style UI will work on top of the normal Windows allowing you to switch on either UIs in a snap. Internet Explorer 10 will also be in Windows 8 and some other cool things and UI designs on Windows 8.

Microsoft reminds us that they have ended support of Windows Vista SP1 as of July 12
Microsoft announced this back in March of 2011. Windows Vista SP1 will not be supported starting on July 12 and it has happened. The world's largest software company reminds us that yesterday the support for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 has ended and they have recommended that you upgrade to a newer version of Windows, preferably Windows 7, which by the way is the fastest selling operating system in history. Anyway, if you do not wish to upgrade to Windows 7 it is also recommended that you update your Windows Vistas to the latest Service Pack available which is SP2. You can do that by opening Windows Update.

Skype 5.5 Beta for Windows is now available for download - deeper Facebook integration
Skype released version 5.5 Beta for Windows of their instant messaging application today. I don't really know, but since Microsoft already acquired Skype add in the fact that Microsoft and Facebook are really good friends (evident by Bing Search as Facebook's search engine) it will come to no surprise that Facebook chat should be inside Skype. Honestly, I have been waiting for this feature to come to the app and finally it is here, at least for Windows powered machines.

Windows 8 prototypes shown at Computex
When Windows 8 was first unveiled at the D9 Conference, a few devices were on stage when Microsoft's Windows and Windows Live Vice President Steven Sinofsky demoed the new OS. A few hours after that, across the globe in Taiwan, prototypes of different form factors that the OS would be running on where displayed and shown off to the crowd. These are all ARM-based prototypes with Microsoft's first hardware partners like Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and nVidia all showed off their own devices (well chips inside the device, I believe).
