Opera 11.50 goes to beta - ready for testing




Remember Opera Next? It was launched a while back with Opera 11.50 alpha on board. Today, Opera have put the 11.50 version of the browser to it's beta phase and is now ready for testing. Of course, this is not available on the stable version of Opera, the Opera browser with the red logo (click on the link "Opera Next" for more details about this version of the browser).

USA: The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 now on Best Buy's website - coming soon


The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, one of the most anticipated Honeycomb tablet that is yet to be launched in the US market, is now on Best Buy's website with a big "Coming Soon" sign. Anyway, the retailer did not give us any information with regards to the exact date or any date at all when the tablet will be available in the US. The page on the other hand confirms that the tablet will be launched in the US running on the latest version of Honeycomb, Android 3.1.

nVidia showcases the power of the Kal-El quad-core chips with a game - Glowball


Remember the nVidia project Kal-El? That project they have been cooking in their kitchen rumored to be launched within this year and will give mobile devices the power of a quad-core processor? nVidia have released a video of a game to showcase the power of their Kal-El chips and did not forget to note that the chip used in the game in an Android Honeycomb tablet is not yet the production chipset which means that it can be faster when they are already in production. 

Samsung Galaxy S II GT-i9101 photo leaked


Look at what we have here. Take note that the Samsung Galaxy S II's original model number is GT-i9100 but this version of the GS II has a GT-i9101 on it. What does this mean? One thing is for sure, Samsung has a different variant out there aside from the original GS II. But Samsung Hub is saying that this could be the GS II variant that sports those NFC chips. Oh well, we know that the GS II that the UK is getting does not feature NFC chips in them. Anyway, little is know about this device, aside from that photo.





Twitter to launch its own photo sharing service?


If this holds water, then great! At least Twitter realized that a self-owned photo sharing service is good news for Twitter users, like me. Today, there are a number of photo sharing service that you can use if you want to share a photon on your stream. There's Twitpic,Yfrog, and Plixi (acquired by Lockerz). Aside from photos, a video sharing service is also there for Twitter users, in the name of Twitvid.

Asus announces the Android 3.1 Honeycomb update for the EeePad Transformer

 And the last Asus news comes from their official Facebook page, which announces that the Android 3.2 Honeycomb update for the EeePad Transformer will start rolling out tomorrow. By now, you should know what 3.1 Honeycomb brings to any tablet right? But if you don't one of it's main features is the ability to resize the widgets on the homescreen. Of course, that comes with UI and performance enhancements too.

Asus EeePad MeMo to feature a glassless 3D IPS display


The Asus Eee Pad MeMo, Asus' third and last Android tablet that is yet to be launched or at least rumored to be launched. Then it was rumored to be sporting a glassless free 3D display, which is actually true. Asus, have announced the EeePad MeMo to be featuring such IPS display.

I knew it! I told myself not to blog about the rumored and leaked Asus PadPhone because my instincts is telling me not to since it will be officially be announced soon. Soon is quick for Asus, since they have officially announced the Asus PadPhone. Yup, that tablet with a phone inside it that you have been seeing around other techblogs.

The Asus UX21 - an ultrathin laptop 17mm at its thickest part will be the world's thinnest laptop


I simply can't ignore this. Asus announced another laptop at Computex 2011. This time it's the Asus Eee PC UX21 and is bound to be the thinnest laptop in the world. I've done the calculations. The Samsung Series 9 is the current holder of being the world's thinnest. Being 0.68 inches thin at the thickest part of the laptop (17.272mm). Asus is saying that the Eee PC UX21 will be only 17mm at its thickest part, making it the world's thinnest. 

Asus Eee PC X101 announced runs on MeeGo


Ok, this will be, I think, the first of a lot of Asus news that is going to rain down on this blog. Asus have announced and showcased at Computex 2011, the Asus Eee PC X101. A netbook (they call it an "ultrathin") that runs on MeeGo. The laptop features an 11" display and of course the Linux based OS, MeeGo. If you don't like the sound of that, Asus will also be offering the netbook or ultrathin laptop with Windows OS in it. 

ViewSonic ViewPad 10Pro sports an Intel Oak Trail processor - Android tablet with Windows 7 OS


Ok, don't get confused with the title I just made with this post. It basically means that the ViewSonic ViewPad 10Pro runs on the Android platform but can also "boot" the Windows 7 OS. But don't get too excited with the "dual-boot" idea of it all. The device, by the way, is also showcased in at Computex 2011.

ViewSonic ViewPad 7x tried to be the world's first 7-inch Honeycomb tablet


Would you look at that? A 7-inch tablet running on the tablet optimized platform, Android Honeycomb, is being showcased at Computex 2011 by ViewSonic. Dubbed as the ViewSonic ViewPad 7x, the company will try to be the world's first to launch a 7-inch tablet running on the said platform. Base on the photos of the device, the tablet has a UI overlay on it and it looks nice, for me.

Samsung Galaxy S III coming in the first half of 2012 and 4G tablet by Samsung teased


Samsung's Mobile Communications division president, J.K. Shin have teased a Galaxy Tab that supports the 4G network. Said to be coming "later this year", Samsung is currently in talks with South Korean and US carriers to help launch the 4G enabled tablet. Aside from the tablet the guy also teased the 3rd generation or the Galaxy S' next iteration. Apparently to be called as the Samsung Galaxy S III, is said to be coming in the first half of 2012. This comes after the Korean giant have announced that the Galaxy S II have sold 1.3 million handsets in South Korea alone. The rest of any details is still a mystery even the design of the phone. 


Philips GoGear Connect Android tablet to be launched in China?


Oh, look! Philips is also in the game of putting a tablet challenger into the tablet market. Named as the Philips GoGear Connect is their version of an Android Gingerbread tablet that is said to be launching in China soon. The tablet has a 7" touchscreen display, a front facing camera,  and a microSD card slot. And anything beyond those details, we got nothing. I know, too little details for a rumor but I will be blogging about this device when things get a little bit more official though.

PHIL: Globe lists the Google Nexus S - comes free with plan 2499


The Google Nexus S, made by Samsung, was never announced officially in the Philippines. Well of course, you gotta give it to the grey market for making it available in the country way ahead of it's official launching. But amazingly, the phone pops up on Globe's post-paid plan page. Yes! Silently, Globe is offering the smartphone for free with plan 2499.

Pantech Vega No. 5 is a 5-incher smartphone coming to Korea


Aside from the Pantech Vega Racer, the Korean phone manufacturer also showed off a gigantic smartphone bound to be launched in South Korea. When I say gigantic, it means a 5" touchscreen display. Which the Korean company effortlessly categorized as a smartphone rather the Dell Streak, which is categorized by Dell as a tablet rather than a phone.

UK: White Sony Ericsson Xperia Play now available at O2 UK


Remember the exclusive availability of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play in White from O2 UK? Well, good news who wants to have one! Because it is now available in stock according to the carrier's website. Of course, since the white version does not give any advantage compared to the normal black version of the handset (aside from the color), the White Xperia Play is sold at the same price as the Black Xperia Play is at O2 UK. You can get either the black or the white from O2 UK for £430 on pre-pay deals. Aside from the handset itself, O2 is throwing in a  matching multimedia dock and three bonus games as the icing on the cake deal. Get the Xperia Play for free from O2 if you agree to sign a £34 per month subscription.

Asus EeePad Slider is "due soon"


What do we know about one of Asus' 3 Android powered tablets that were announced back in CES 2011, the EeePad Slider? Not really that much aside from its basic specs like a 10.1" (1280 x 800) touchscreen display, a 1GHz nVidia Tegra2 dual-core processor, Android Honeycomb OS, and of course the thing that makes it different from the other 2 EeePad Tablets, a built-in keyboard. 

USA: T-Mobile to release Gingerbread update to the G2X "by summer"


When the LG made T-Mobile G2X was launched in the US, together with the LG made G-Slate and the Samsung made Sidekick 4G, it's sales, according to T-Mobile has been doing great. Great even that supply of the device is running out, hence T-Mobile is adjusting the pricing of the phone. Also, when it was launched T-Mobile promised that the Android Gingerbread update will be coming soon.

Google introduces Google Wallet and Google Offers


Google had a press conference in New Yorck City in May 26th (today) and have unveiled a new service that they are already testing. Called Google Wallet, which works in tandem with Google Offers. Google Wallet is Google's way of making use of those NFC chips found inside new smartphones today, like the Nexus S. How it works? Well, basically it makes your phone your wallet. 


Samsung SPH-D600 leaked - coming to Sprint with 4G capability


A new Android smartphone by Samsung gets leaked. It bears a model number of SPH-D600 and apparently it ain't a high-end smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy S II which will be heading to Sprint under the name of Samsung Within. The smartphone you see in the photo above has 4G connectivity with, of course, Sprint. Other stuff we know about the handset is that it sports a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 3.2MP rear facing camera, and a front facing camera. The phone, like the Galaxy S II, runs on Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread. Since it is only a leaked and still an unannounced phone, details about it is scarce. So stay tuned for more updates.

Sony Ericsson releases Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread update with Facebook Inside Xperia feature to the Xperia line of devices



Yes ladies and gents its true. Aside from the "Pure Google" phones (Nexus One and Nexus S) and aside from those phone launched with Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread already running in the devices, Sony Ericsson is the first phone manufacturer to release the 2.3.3 Gingerbread update to their smartphones. Nice going there Sony Ericsson.

When Microsoft announced the next iteration of their Windows Phone ecosystem to the world, Windows Phone Mango, it comes with it tons of new features. One of those is the fact that Microsoft will be bringing the Windows Phone Marketplace (equivalent to the Android Market) to the web. Which is good news not only to Windows Phone users but also to developers since this will be another channel for them to promote their well-crafted apps.

USA: The Motorola Droid X is officially getting Gingerbread starting May 27th



Updates are important even if they come a bit late and even if I have not blogged much about the Motorola Droid X. The update that the Moto Droid X will be receiving starting this Friday (May 27) is software version 4.5.596 which brings in Android 2.3 Gingerbread into the device. For those who owns the device and does not want the Droid X2 which was recently launched, then this is really good news for all of you.

Nokia intros Nokia Oro - beautified version of the C7


Nokia oh Nokia, where did this come from? Anyway, the Finnish phone maker have introduced the Nokia Oro, which is basically a decorated Nokia C7. If you like a phone with the glitz and glamore of it all, then I believe this will be shimmering in your eyes.

USA: LG Revolution to be officially launched by Verizon tomorrow - May 26


The LG Revolution was unveiled by Verizon themselves back in January of this year. Today, Verizon have officially announced that their next 4G LTE capable device in the name of, of course, the LG Revolution will be launched tomorrow (May 26). This will be the Big Red's third device to support their LTE network. So the rumor was spot on.

People in India who are waiting and is eager to know when the Samsung Galaxy S II will officially launch in their home shores can now mark June 10 as the day that the superphone will land. HTC Desire S in red is official will be exclusively available via Vodafone

Yup! I know some of you or most of you have read about the red Desire S leaked around the internet. Today, it is official and will exclusively be offered by Vodafone. Everything about the HTC Desire S will be the same but the color on this is what makes it different. Well, I believe this is HTC's phone that is not either white or black so this is something special, I should say.

Nokia confirms that their first Windows Phone device will be running "Mango"


During Microsoft's event where they have unveiled the next release of their mobile platform, Windows Phone "Mango", Andy Lees have made a very noteworthy statement when it was his time to take the stage. The statement went like this: "We already have Nokia handsets that run Windows Phone Mango in our labs.” Of course, no further details were given but Nokia confirmed it themselves that their first phone will be running on Mango when it launches.

Microsoft who held an event earlier, officially unveiled the next version of their smartphone platform. Codenamed "Mango", this new version of Windows Phone still holds the design and aesthetics of Windows Phone 7 but with some new features here and there, of course. Two of the most amazing new features that Mango is carrying for me, is Bing Vision (which works just like Google Goggles but I believe Windows Phone has it cooler) and then the integration of IE 9's engine into the platform to give you a much better browsing experience when you use your Windows Phone device.

PHIL: Asus launched the Asus EeePad Transformer in the Philippines for Php 21,990


Asus Philippines have officially unveiled and launched their first Android Honeycomb tablet challenger in the Philippine market. Well, it is actually the first Honeycomb device to arrive in the Philippines. The Asus EeePad Transformer, the tablet that was a sell out in the US will be priced in the Phils. for Php 29,990. That price tag amazingly includes the keyboard dock that makes this tablet a bit unique to the others out there. Amazing right? Considering that the iPad 2 16GB WiFi only is officially priced for Php 23,990.

Nokia starts shipping C2-00 and re-announces the X1-01

Nokia have announced yet again the X1-01 music-centric phone. You already know that the X1-01 is a low-cost phone that features dual-sim capability and is a phoen made for the music junkie (click link for more details). The other phone that Nokia is said to have started shipping is the Nokia C2-00 (photo).

Amazon Germany puts the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 on pre-order


The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 have not yet been launched anywhere in the world. Apparently, Samsung will be selling the 10-incher first before they launch it's little brethren. In Germany, though, Amazon have started to take pre-orders of the smaller Galaxy Tab priced at €606.50 with free shipping and VAT included. Unfortunately, Amazon is unclear which version of the tablet this is, is it the WiFi only variant or the 3G-capable tablet? [Official] Twitter swallows Tweetdeck for $40 million


The rumors and reports that have been circulating around Twitter's acquisition of Tweetdeck have been really everywhere. Today though, news about Twitter acquiring the world's most popular third-party twitter client, Tweetdeck, is in circulation for the amount of $40 million in cash and in stock. Twitter have not yet released any comments on this report which came from CNN and CNET, but I believe they will soon they will be announcing it.

Twitter starts rolling out email notifications when someone RTs or Favorites your tweets


Twitter announced, via a tweet, that they are starting to roll out new email notifications with regards to your tweets being retweeted and being favorited. Today, the only notification that Twitter sends out to your email is when have a new follower and a direct message. Since this new feature is a roll out expect that not everyone will be getting it at the same time. Personally, I still have not yet received any notifications about retweets and favorites but I am excited about this new feature that they have and I think is great.

Mozilla releases Firefox Mobile 5 Beta for Android


Just very recently, Mozilla officially released Firefox 5 Beta for desktops giving Firefox users the chance to get the newest feature that the browser can offer to them. For their mobile browsers, Firefox 5 Beta for Android have also been released.

Samsung Galaxy S II gets another software update


The Samsung Galaxy S II (GT-i9100) have received another software update. The first update was named as the KE2 update this, newest software, is named as the KE7 which you will be able to get via the Samsung Kies application in your PCs. Anyway, the latest software for the superphone brings in new stuff and performance improvements which are listed after the break.

Google updates Google Disco now at version 2.0


Who among you knows what Google Disco is? It's Google's group messaging app that is not that popular. The cross platform messenger is now updated to version 2.0 which includes features like Push notifications and the capability to send messages via data. Those features that are included into the newest version of the app is already available in other messaging apps, what Google has to do now is to make this app popular. Today, the app is only available in the US. Other countries does not have access to it. Maybe they want to improve or make the app perfect before totally marketing it around the world. Anyway, you can download Google Disco 2.0 from the App Store or from the Android Market for free.

USA: HTC 7 Trophy will be shipped by Verizon running "NoDo"



Verizon have recently announced that they their first Windows Phone 7 device will be launched online on May 26th and it will be available at Verizon Wireless stores in June 2. Since Microsoft have been pushing out updates to WP7 devices, the question on what version of Windows Phone will the Trophy be running right out from the box is still a question that remains to be answered until today.

LG Genesis press photos released ahead of US Cellular launch



The LG Genesis rumored and leaked to be heading to US Cellular, is now nearing it's launch date (I think) since the phone's press photos have been released by no less than LG itself. Anyway, the LG Genesis is a clamshell type Android smartphone featuring two touchscreen displays. Even if an official launch date is not yet known, the carrier branding on the phone is evidence enough that the phone will be offered by US Cellular.

"Do Not Track" security feature added to Firefox Beta for Android



Firefox have added a new feature to their Firefox Beta for Android browser. That new feature would make users of the browser a bit more secure (for those who are conscious with their security). The new feature added into the mobile browser is called "Do Not Track" or "DNT". Anyway, this feature will block any sites you visit using Firefox Beta for Android from tracking your location. An issue that iOS and Android is facing right now with the US Senate.

Google Maps is now available in your mobile browser


Google Maps is finally available on your mobile browsers (for Android and iOS)! You don't need to have the Google Maps app (e.g. on you Android) for you to get the features that it has. Today, you can now visit maps.google.com on your mobile browsers and get a feature rich Google Maps right in your browsers.

Mozilla Firefox 5 enters beta - officially released


Mozilla have just officially released to it's beta phase the Firefox 5 browser. The browser giant have just recently released Firefox 4 but that, of course, did not stop the company from spitting out Firefox 5 into beta. The beta channel is one of the two channels that Firefox currently has. It works the same as what Google have implemented into the 4 channels of Google Chrome has. The other channel that Firefox currently have is the Firefox Aurora which is the fastest and the first to get the latest and the most unstable version of the browser (equivalent to Chrome's Canary Build). Before, they have the Firefox Nightly, which was the most and the fastest channel that gets updated, even faster than that of Firefox Aurora. But it seems Mozilla took that down.
