The Google Nexus 6 by Motorola

Together with the announcement of Android 5.0 Lollipop, Google has announced their next flagship Nexus smartphone. Made by Motorola, the Google Nexus 6. Apparently, it will be the first phone to run Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. Motorola has taken this category (phablet for Samsung fans) to a whole new level by basically spitting out a 6-inch smartphone. That I believe is a huge phone and huge is probably still an understatement. Anyway, for those dying to get their hands on the device, Google will be accepting pre-orders of the device in late October and should start shipping by November. Nexus devices are always available via the Nexus website and the Play Store.

Android 5.0 Lollipop

Google has officially revealed the name of the next major release of Android. Android 5.0 will be, from now on, known as Android Lollipop. At the time it was being announced, my Google Plus feed was filled with Lollipops, Androids dancing, People dancing (GIF) and whatnots. Most of us already know what Android 5.0 has to offer. It is a major update and according to Google, the sweetest Android yet. It has a revamped UI which they named as Material Design. This version of the platform will also brought to not just smartphones or tablets but it extends to Android Wear, Android TV, and Android Auto. Everything I have said here were already previewed in this year's Google I/O so if you missed that, click here.

HTC Re

Aside from announcing the HTC Desire Eye during HTC's recent event in New York, the company also introduced a photo software called Zoe and together with the Zoe and the Eye, HTC introduced the HTC Re. It's a camera. The Re has a 16MP camera lens with an amazing 146 degree angle allowing you to not really  think about where the camera is pointed and wonder if you got the shot or not because it is that wide. The device is IPX7 Waterpoof. Waterproof, that is very different from water resistant and can be improved with the "cap" on to IPX8.

HTC Desire Eye

HTC has recently announced a new member of their Desire line of smartphones. They are calling it the HTC Desire Eye. The selling point for this smartphone, aside from its amazing design, as always from HTC, is the fact that it's their first smartphone that is almost dedicated in taking photos at the front with great quality that is almost unheard of. The smartphone packs a 13MP front camera with, take note, a dual-LED flash! That's awesome! The rear camera is also a 13MP shooter. The phone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core cpu. So this is not your ordinary Desire it's a feature packed smartphone built into a hardware that is set to perform.

Smart offers Acer Chromebook with their internet bundles!

This is one of those news that I have been waiting! The arrival of Google's Chromebooks to the Philippines! Although the OS or the platform can still be used even without internet connection, Smart together with Acer have created a very wise tandem here by offering the first Chromebook (officially) in the Philippines with internet bundles. No matter how unindependent the platform is to the internet it will still use the world wide web to do everything Google has promised it would do.

Apple Watch unveiled

Aside from the new iPhones, Apple has announced their first smartwatch dubbed as the Apple Watch. The new smartwatch has a square screen and has different variants, if you like, the Watch Sport (middle of the photo) and the  Watch Edition (far right). The difference is that the Watch Edition is the one with the gold around the screen. As for features, I don't like to say this, but think of Android Wear and you have the Apple Watch but of course, they have tricks up their sleeves. The Apple Watch is integrated with Apple's new digital wallet service, dubbed as Apple Pay.

Sony Xperia Z3 - Specifications & Features

Sony, at IFA 2014 Berlin, have announced their new 2014 flagship smartphone. This will officially dethrone the Xperia Z2, that was announced back in February 2014. So what are the new things on the Z4? To disappoint you, not much really. It got it's design from the Z2 and with only minor updates from the previous Sony flagship. The screen is exactly the same. The Z3 probably only has an improved CPU and that is it, I think. Well there are minor things that have changed in the body of the device which needs a bit of tinkering. Anyway, the specs.

Update: Well, the Chrome 37 for windows actually comes with a 64-bit version. Now wonder my Chrome acts way more smoothly than Chrome 36. For those who wants to get the 64-bit Chrome click here.

HTC have recently announced the Windows version of their HTC One M8. Dubbed as the HTC One M8 for Windows the smartphone is exactly the One M8 but instead of running on Android it runs on? Windows. Windows 8.1.1 with Cortana, to be very exact. Since it is the exact same device of the One M8, the device is a premium smartphone with the use of premium materials. Apparently, the phone is metallic and will surely appeal to those who wants a different OS or finds Windows Phone better than any other OS out there a very nice looking device. LG unveiled the LG G3 - "Simple is the new Smart"

LG, yesterday, announced the successor to the LG G2 and will be the company's 2014 flagship Android smartphone. The LG G3 was announced in London yesterday in a huge setting with Dr. Woo taking the stage. LG aims and promises that the G3 will be simple and not something complex and hard to learn which personally is a truth when it comes to smartphones and with today's new technologies just sprouting out like mushrooms. Like the G2, the G3, has the lock and power button at the device's rear. It has some neat stuff in it like a laser auto focus technology for the device's camera and a 5.5" Quad HD display among others. The LG G3 is said to stomp the Samsung Galaxy S5 and make it look like old technology. The G3 will first shed light on a store shelf in South Korea by May 28th and according to LG will be rolled out to other regions around the world afterwards. For the exact date? You and I will have to wait for that.

HTC announces the HTC One Mini 2

HTC has announced the HTC One Mini 2. As what the name suggests, it is the mini version of the HTC One (M8), their 2014 Android flagship smartphone. Also, HTC is struggling not only in their general smartphone sales but also in the mid-range market. Like most mini versions of a flagship device, the One Mini 2 does not deviate from the design concept of it's bigger brother. The only difference from this device to the bigger brother is the size and of course the specs, not to mention the price. As per HTC, the Mini 2 should be available starting June 2014.

The HTC One (M8)

HTC has finally unveiled their 2014 Android Flagship smartphone, the HTC One... M8. The smartphone is said to be already available. I am not sure though which countries have it but in the US the HTC One (M8) is available for order via AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint. Other carriers will get it by April 10th. In the Philippines and other countries around the world, it'd be best if you check with your carriers if they already have the said device. If not, then it probably will be available by April.

Sony unveils Project Morpheus virtual reality headgear for the PS4

At the Game Developers Conference, Sony has unveiled Project Morpheus. Morpheus is a headgear that brings virtual reality gaming into reality. The device, which is sold separate, is expected to work with your PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, they actually just unveiled the "Project" much like a "Concept" when car companies unveil what they want to do in the future. But since Sony said that it will work with the PS4 the headgear will definitely be available within this year.

Motorola and LG announce the Moto 360 and the G Watch - Android Wear smartwatches

Both LG and Motorola announced their own Smartwatch after Google announced Android Wear. Motorola calls theirs the Moto 360 and LG calls theirs as the G Watch. Both are still not available for purchase since the OS they will be running on are still in development. Google is expecting the OS to be available from April so we might also expect Motorola and LG lunch these smartwatches by that month. No prices announced no exact dates when they will be available but we will just have to wait for them to arrive in store shelves.

Google announces Android Wear

Google has announced their take on Wearables. Well this is not hardware, apparently, this is the software that wearables will be running on when OEMs will be making. Think of it as the Tizen OS Samsung used in their Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, and the Gear Fit. But unlike Samsung's Tizen OS, Android Wear is still Android, only that it is optimized (or redesigned, if you may) to work seamlessly to Wearables. I should say, Google nailed this. With Google Now and their brilliance? This will definitely make Samsung's wearables look dumb. But then again, this is just a "concept" again, if you may. There is still no hardware for this. Motorola and LG might have announced their own smartwatches but they still can't actually demo them because Android Wear is still being developed. Nonetheless, this is awesome. Wait until you watch the video Google made to intro the said OS.

Apple has officially released their first ever update on their mobile platform after releasing iOS 7. The iOS 7.1 update is now available for download. For those who owns an iDevice go ahead and check for a software update. One of the major additions to the iOS 7.1 is CarPlay (previously iPhone in the Car) which will be available to select cars in 2014. I heard Ferrari has already jumped into the bandwagon for this. For more details about the update click here.

Boeing unveils a smartphone! The Boeing Black

I am an aviation enthusiast and this is like the best of two, of the many, things that I love put into one. Boeing, a company founded in Seattle, Washington has just announced a smartphone. Yes, that's right. The world's most famous name, probably, when it comes to passenger aircraft has a phone and it runs on Android. How cool is that? Outside the US the Boeing name is almost always associated with passenger aircraft like the B747, B777, and the B737 but not everybody knows that Boeing is also a company that the US government works with. You probably did not know that the Chinook, the Apache, the Globemaster, the F18 Super Hornetand, and the F15 are all made by Boeing.

HTC has introduced two additional mid-range smartphone in their Desire line of smartphones at the MWC 2014 in Barcelona, Spain. These devices are the HTC Desire 610 and the Desire 816. The Desire 610 will be available across Europe by May while the Desire 816 will be available in varying regions across the globe and will arrive later this Spring.

MWC 2014: Lenovo S660, S850, & S860

S660
Lenovo, at MWC 2014, announced three mid-range smartphones, the S660, S850, and the S860. I won't talk about much about these devices since there is one event I will try to watch online and I only have 30mins or so do prepare for it. I will directly just list to you their specs.

MWX 2014: Sony Xperia M2

Sony Mobile is not over yet, they still have one more device before MWC 2014 officially kicks in. This is the Sony Xperia M2, the successor to the original Xperia M. The Xperia M2 is still a mid-range device but it kicks a punch with its price point. It runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and sports a 4.8" display. The Xperia M2 is not waterproof nor is it dustproof oh well they did not put that Xperia touch into this device, just yet probably. Anyway, this device should make its way into store shelves by Q1 of this year.

MWC 2014: Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet

Just like the original Xperia Z it came with it a tablet, called the Xperia Z Tablet, the Xperia Z2 also comes with a tablet also dubbed as the Xperia Z2 Tablet. Just put the Xperia Z2 into a bigger screen and viola, the Z2 Tablet. They almost have the same specs from the OS it runs, the RAM it has, and the processor it possesses. Both the smartphone and this tablet are on display at MWC 2014 in Barcelona, as to the news on where and when it will actually make its way into store shelves is still a question I don't know the answer. Anyway, the specs.

MWC 2014: Sony Xperia Z2

The successor to the Sony Xperia Z1, the Xperia Z2 has been officially unveiled ahead of MWC 2014. This is a well built device, I have to say. From its design and getting the force from that of the Z1, the Z2 is a bit of an improvement. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and sports a bigger 5.2" Full HD display and a RAM that now competes with the Galaxy Note III from Samsung. And like most Xperia devices, the Z2 is still waterproof, dustproof, and scratchproof. The details about its availability, I believe, is still a mystery but anyhow, it's nice to see this amazing smartphone that will surely make to a store shelf near you.

MWC 2014: Nokia XL

This is the next Nokia X series device running on Android, dubbed as the Nokia XL. Again it runs on an undisclosed version of Android with a Nokia X Software Platform overlay that strips everything Android about the OS and makes it look like a Windows Phone. The Nokia X's specs is a bit disappointing, considering that it is Nokia's first Android device, they still should have made the specs more spectacular that what they are now. The XL, as what the name implies is larger than the X. It sports a 5" display and a 5MP camera which is a little bit up there when compared to the Nokia X.

MWC 2014: Nokia X

Nokia is not going silent in this year's MWC in Barcelona, Spain. With that said, the Finnish phonemaker announced their first ever Android-powered device. There are actually three of them and are dubbed as the Nokia X series. This is the Nokia X. It sports a 4" display and runs on Android being dubbed by Nokia as the Nokia X Software Platform OS which is basically just Android but skinned to look like a Windows Phone. This device has a dual-sim counterpart called the Nokia X+.

LG L Series III announced

This is a late post but nonetheless, LG has announced the successors to their L line of smartphones, the LG L Series III. All of these devices run on Android 4.4 KitKat and are dubbed according to their sizes. First, we have the LG L40, the LG L70, and the LG L90. At MWC 2014, the Chinese phonemaker ZTE has unveiled their mid-range update to the Grand Memo, the ZTE Grand Memo II LTE. The phablet runs on Android with a 6" display and according to ZTE is a very slim device, in fact, it is 7.2mm thin. The Grand Memo II LTE is touted to be available in April in China and will be available after its China launch in Europe, North America, and Asia Pacific. I don't have the full specs of the device since ZTE only have its preliminary specs from their press release.

MWC 2014: ZTE Open C and Open 2 Firefox OS devices

ZTE has announced two new mobile devices that run on Mozilla's Firefox OS, yes it is still alive. The ZTE Open C and the Open 2 both got a press release from ZTE's official website and viola, the two tiny smartphones from the Chinese phonemaker running on Firefox OS. The OS is fairly young as it was unveiled to the public last year (at the CES 2013 if my memory serves me right).Anyway, I have preliminary specs of these devices after the break.

LG announces the LG G 2 Pro in South Korea

Ahead of the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, Spain, the Korean phonemaker, LG, has unveiled the LG G Pro 2. A phablet, apparently, that will go on and compete with the Samsung Galaxy Note III and other phablets out there for 2014. This device will probably be showcased and reunvieled at MWC 2014. Anyway, it has a very huge screen, bigger than the Note III, actually, since it flaunts it at 5.9" in Full HD resolution. The G Pro 2 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat, the latest version of Android available. The phablet, like the Note III is also capable of recording 4K videos.
