Asus's Ultrabook, the VIVO Book which adds up to Asus already big family of Windows 8 devices they have announced yesterday. The VIVO Book is basically a Zenbook without the Zen. You'll understand what I mean once you get to compare the Zenbook Touch's specs and the VIVO Book's. Anyway head on over the break to check the ultrabook's specs.

Asus Windows 8 line-up: Asus Zenbook Touch
Remember the Asus Zenbook? Today, Asus will be calling it the Asus Zenbook Touch. The reason for that, apparently, is the fact that it now runs on Windows 8. Asus has two versions of this notebook, the Zenbook U500VZ and the UX31A. The difference between the two is that the former is larger than the latter. The U500VZ sports a 15.6" display compared to the 13.3" of the UX31A. Since the 15-incher is larger, it packs more specs than the smaller Zenbook.

Asus Windows 8 line-up: Asus Transformer Book
Here's the improved Transformer Book from Asus, of course. This hybrid was also announced by Asus back in July. Today, Asus is making it a reality, since Windows 8 is also a reality today. I do not have Asus' press release so I cannot tell you when this is coming to stores or how much this will cost but I have it's detailed specs sheet, so that, I can give.

Asus Windows 8 line-up: Asus Taichi
Asus has finally unveiled and announced their Windows 8 (or you can also say it as their 2012) line up of devices. We will start with this amazingly cool concept which they have announced back in July but did not really come into reality until now. Dubbed as the Asus Taichi this is the ultimate definition of a notebook/tablet hybrid. It sports 2 HD displays so you can easily switch from one mode to the other (which has 4 modes all in all). Of course, since this notebook runs on Windows 8 both display are touchscreen displays but is twice awesome.

The MacBook Pro 13 with Retina Display
Aside from announcing the two new iPads, Apple also announced the new MacBook Pro 13 which now sports that awesome Retina Display. The 13-incher MBP sports a 13.3" display with a resolution of 2560x1600. That's huge by any standards. Anyway both the new Macs will be available right now, I believe, both in the online Apple Store and at Apple retail stores starting at $1699 with the MacBook Pro 13 with 128GB of internal storage.

Lenovo unveils two Ultrabooks - IdeaPad U310 and U410 [CES 2012]
![]() |
| IdeaPad U410 |
Lenovo at CES 2012 unveiled two Ultrabooks named as the IdeaPad U310 and IdeaPad U310. These Ultrabooks basically succeed over the IdeaPad U300s which was missing an SD card slot and a very steep price. Yup! These Ultrabooks from Lenovo are now priced lower than what you would expect from an Ultrabook. The cheapest from these is priced at $699.

HP is clearly not spinning off their PC business and to prove that the company just made their first Ultrabook. Called as the Folio 13, this 13.3-incher ultrabook is thing, like any other ultrabooks out there, at just 18mm thin this will definitely challenge other ultrabooks that were already announced. The laptop is scheduled to be launched in December 7th starting at $899.99.

The Acer Aspire S3 Ultrabook showcased at IFA 2011 Berlin
Acer would not want to be late when it comes to the latest technology available. With Intel's Ultrabook chips and together with Toshiba and Lenovo, Acer have showcased their Aspire S3 Ultrabook at IFA 2011 in Berlin. Like the other Ultrabooks out there (included is Asus's Eee PC UX21), the Aspire S3 will be thin. How thin? I guess this is the thinnest in all of them Ultrabooks, at only 0.51 inch (12.9mm) thick.

Toshiba intros the Portege Z830 Ultrabook laptop
At IFA 2011 a lot of Ultrabooks were showcased. This new chipset from Intel will give computer manufacturers the ability to make their laptops thin. The first Ultrabook that was announced a few weeks back was Asus's Eee PC UX21 which resembles a lot of the MacBook Air. Aside from that, Lenovo also showcased their own version of an Ultrabook, the Lenovo IdeaPad U300s.

Lenovo intros the IdeaPad U300s
Lenovo at IFA 2011 in Berlin have announced their Intel Ultrabook laptop, the Lenovo IdeaPad U300s. The laptop is only 15mm thin edge-to-edge. Lenovo designed the IdeaPad U300s to be 15mm thin from edge to the other edge to keep the idea of a book (which does not slim down at another edge).

USA: Apple announces the updated MacBook Air - Thunderbolt I/O and Intel Core i5 CPU
Apple officially launches and announces the updated line of MacBook Airs. The new MacBook Air is not a design change at all but rather a specs upgrade from the what Apple have unveiled and launched early this year. The updated brings to the MacBook Air the new Thunderbolt I/O that Apple and Intel have been made. Also, the new Air receives a higher and a much faster CPU with Intel's "Sandy Bridge" processor, the Intel Core i5. And, this new Air will also be the first laptop that will officially ship with the new Mac OS X Lion.

PHIL: The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 ultra-thin laptop in the Philippines
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 is the thinnest ThinkPad notebook to date. Stuffed with innards that will not only blow your mind but will make you wonder how in the world did Lenovo stuff those inside this ultra-thin laptop. Some or most laptops when they are built so thin the specs are usually lower than you would want them to have. Call the ThinkPad X1 a deviant to that rule or thinking.

Acer unveils their own ChromeBook will cost only $349
Of course, Acer does not want to be left behind when it comes to laptops so they also unveiled their own ChromeBook, the Acer ChromeBook. It was said that the Cr-48 (the test Chrome OS laptop) was made by Acer so this would come with no surprise. The Acer ChromeBook like Samsung's Series 5, also gets that ChromeBook spec which equates to an Intel Atom N570 processor, 16GB of SSD, "instant on", 2 USB ports, a webcam, HDMI, and a 6.5 hour battery life. This laptop will be selling for a lesser price of $349 compared to the Series 5 and it also comes with an optional global 3G version. Of course the 3G version would require a bit more of your bucks. The ChromeBook will also be available for pre-order on the same day that's on June 15th over at Amazon and Best Buy.

Samsung Series 5 unveiled - Chrome OS powered laptop (ChromeBook)
I might be wrong but I think this is the first ChromeBook announced or unveiled after the Cr-48. Anyway, Samsung's first Chrome OS powered laptop, the Series 5, has been announced and is official. This very slim laptop measures only 0.79 inch is leading the way, according to Endgadget, in the Chrome OS space. The laptop was also made official by Google themselves, of course, no where else than during their second keynote at Google I/O in San Francisco, California.
