Yes ladies and gents its true. Aside from the "Pure Google" phones (Nexus One and Nexus S) and aside from those phone launched with Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread already running in the devices, Sony Ericsson is the first phone manufacturer to release the 2.3.3 Gingerbread update to their smartphones. Well, we all know that there are a lot of Xperia phones out there. Unfortunately, not all of them will get the 2.3.3 Gingerbread update with the Facebook Inside Xperia feature towed along with it. The Xperia handsets that will only be getting the update are the Xperia Arc, Neo, and Play. This software is already running on the newest baby that SE has, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini and Mini Pro.

So what does this software update means to the Xperia users?
  • Battery performance
  • General software stability
  • Wi-Fi stability
  • HD Video recording performance (Xperia™ arc)
  • Touch responsiveness
That is what Sony Ericsson is expecting you to get when you update your phone's software and of course all the 2.3.3 Gingerbread goodness of it all. For more info about the new features on this update watch the video clip below.

The update will be available OTA (Over-The-Air) which means that your phone should notify you about it. Sony Ericsson points out that this will be a gradual roll out to all the mentioned Xperia phones which means, again, that not everyone will get it at the same time. Another factor that will play into the roll-out of the update are the countries or the region where you belong and the specific network carrier customization with the phones. Rest assured, Sony Ericsson is already rolling it out.

With regards to the Xperia X10, the company have promised that the smartphone will be getting the Gingerbread update it deserves.. Yes they are already working on it but unfortunately, the Xperia X10 won't get the Facebook Inside Xperia feature.
