Samsung Galaxy S II starts receiving Android 4.0 ICS update

According to some owners of the Samsung Galaxy S II, they have reported that their SGS IIs have started getting the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. The roll out of the update is not via OTA but rather via Samsung Kies. That would mean you need to have Samsung Kies installed into your desktop or laptop, connect your SGS II and then check if you already have the update. According to SammyHub, the report came from Russia, a market where Samsung is on top. This update, I believe, is for the unlocked version of the device. But anyway, there is no harm in checking or trying. So, yup! Run Samsung Kies now!

PHIL: Android 4.0 ICS update for the Samsung Galaxy S II arrives in the Philippines

When Samsung officially started rolling out the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update to the Galaxy S II, the first countries who got the update were, of course, South Korea and countries in Europe. No mention was made on when exactly it will reach the Philippines. But the Philippines' Galaxy S II is the international version (GT-I9100) which is basically the same with those in South Korea and in the European market. Unlike in the US where they have heavy carrier customization and different CPUs in their SGS IIs and of course the antennas they use for the devices to work with the specific carrier in the US which eventually would require a different update.

USA: T-Mobile USA's Samsung Galaxy S II arrives at Samsung's website

T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy S II now has a spot on Samsung's website! When the Korean giant announced AT&T's, Sprint's, and T-Mobile's SGS IIs, T-Mobile's was the only device that did not have a dedicated spot on their US website, until today. Sprint's Epic 4G Touch and T-Mobile's SGS II variants will both sport a larger 4.52" Super AMOLED Plus display, compared to AT&T's a bit smaller 4.3-inch display on their SGS II.

UK: The white Samsung Galaxy S II is now available at Vodafone UK for £36

The white version of the Galaxy S II is now available over at Vodafone UK for free with a £36 monthly plan, its a bargain, isn't it? Officially announced by Samsung, the white version of the SGS II is still the same SGS I that you'd be getting from the black (original) version but this just comes in white. It was first launched in it's home turf and now the UK seems to be the second market to get this version of the superphone.

Sprint is also carrying their own version of the Samsung Galaxy S II. USA: T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy S II announced

For T-Mobile's version of the Galaxy S II, it will not be much different from that of AT&T's although it carries a bit of difference when it comes to design. Little is know about this device, even after it has been unveiled, but it is basically just the Galaxy S II with the same specs as AT&T's SGS II. Also like AT&T's SGS II, this will be running on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread out of the box. Something though is interesting with this version of the SGS II, head over the break to check what that is.

USA: The Samsung Galaxy S II for Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T smiles for the camera

Thanks to PocketNow, we have a family photo of the three US version of the Samsung Galaxy S II. The photo, however PocketNow acquired it, show us that Sprint's, T-Mobile's, and AT&T's SGS II are designed differently from each other, even if they don't really differ as much. Also, Verizon already confirmed that they won't be carrying the SGS II but might get a better one (SGS II LTE?). Samsung is set to host an event in New York come August 29th (postponed to August 30th)

Samsung have officially announced the Ceramic White version of their most popular smartphone to date, the Galaxy S II. The white version of the Galaxy S II was first announced to launch in the UK but the Korean giant wouldn't want their own home turf to miss on the fun, right? Sammy Hub, did not put in the price of the said version of the smartphone, but the price of the Galaxy S II in white should just be the same as the original black one.

USA: The Samsung Hercules is T-Mobile's version of the Galaxy S II

The Samsung Hercules, an Android powered smartphone that really encompasses it's name, was first reported to be heading for Telus in Canada, is apparently T-Mobile's version of the most anticipated Android handset, the Samsung Galaxy S II. We are not yet sure if T-Mobile will eventually name the smartphone as the Hercules, but this phone really is a larger version of the Galaxy S II since it sports a huge 4.5" display.
