USA: The Motorola Droid X is officially getting Gingerbread starting May 27th

Updates are important even if they come a bit late and even if I have not blogged much about the Motorola Droid X. The update that the Moto Droid X will be receiving starting this Friday (May 27) is software version 4.5.596 which brings in Android 2.3 Gingerbread into the device. For those who owns the device and does not want the Droid X2 which was recently launched, then this is really good news for all of you.

So what is expected on your phone when you upgrade? UI improvement is one with MotoBlur, an improved word selection and copy functionality, and an improved battery life when bluetooth is used. You can head over to Verizon's support page for the details on the update and instructions on how to update.
