Android 5.0 Lollipop

Google has officially revealed the name of the next major release of Android. Android 5.0 will be, from now on, known as Android Lollipop. At the time it was being announced, my Google Plus feed was filled with Lollipops, Androids dancing, People dancing (GIF) and whatnots. Most of us already know what Android 5.0 has to offer. It is a major update and according to Google, the sweetest Android yet. It has a revamped UI which they named as Material Design. This version of the platform will also brought to not just smartphones or tablets but it extends to Android Wear, Android TV, and Android Auto. The world is ready for Windows 8

Yesterday, or 2 days ago, the world's largest software company launched and made Windows 8 available to the world with an event in New York. For those who are very eager to get Windows 8 into their PCs head over to http://microsoft.com to download it. The minimum requirements for the OS to work in a device is listed there. Of course, Windows 8 works best with a touchscreen PC but it should also work fine if it does not support the multi-touch functionality. I love Windows 8! And Microsoft will not just let the PC die just like that, hence, Windows 8. So yeah! Horay for Windows 8.

Mac OS X Mountain Lion now available from the Mac App Store for $19.99

Apple's latest iteration of the world's smartest operating system, is now available at the Mac App Store. Mac OS X Mountain Lion is now available for only $19.99 as an upgrade from Snow Leopard. If you remember. the Mountain Lion was announced back in February and finally it has come for those who wants their Mac OS X-0es to be updated to the latest. Since this is a major update to the platform expect tons of new features here and there. Anyway, for those who got the newest versions of the MacBook Pros and the MacBook Air, then they have already experienced the said version of Mac OS X. So yeah! For those who are still running on Snow Leopard! Get the fiercest cat now!

Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion - tows in iMessage and Notification Center

Apple has officially released the developer preview of the next iteration of Mac OS X, 10.8 Mountain Lion. The most noticeable new stuff in this version of the operating system are the inclusion of iMessage and the Notification Center which are both from iOS and is brought into Mac OS X, which personally makes so much sense. Aside from those two nice features, Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion will also feature Game Center integration, AirPlay Mirroring, improved iCloud support, and Twitter integration among others.

Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 now available for download iCloud in tow

Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 is now also available for download. This update on the operating system will bring in iCloud into it making your Macs more in line with your iOS 5 running deices. The update is available from Software Update and is recommended to all OS X Lion users. Aside from bringing in iCloud, this version of the Lion includes operating system fixes that targets the stability, compatibility, and security to your Macs.

Microsoft announces Windows 8

Microsoft gave a very deep demo on what Windows 8 will be offering when the OS finally goes to public (when its available generally to the public) during their Microsoft BUILD conference. So what are the things you should expect from Windows 8? Aside from a new UI, they call it Metro, Windows 8 is built with touch input into mind. That means, we should all be seeing Windows 8 into laptops, desktops, and on tablets. Microsoft won't just put into garbage what we all have loved and have known about Windows, Windows 8 with it's Metro style UI will work on top of the normal Windows allowing you to switch on either UIs in a snap. Internet Explorer 10 will also be in Windows 8 and some other cool things and UI designs on Windows 8.

Mac OS X Lion now available from the Mac App Store

Of course, since the updates of the Mac Mini and the MacBook Air has been launched which comes with Mac OS X Lion, it is only natural for Apple to also launch the OS to other Mac users. Today, the Mac OS X Lion is finally available for the other Mac user out there as an upgrade from the Mac App Store. 

Microsoft reminds us that they have ended support of Windows Vista SP1 as of July 12

Microsoft announced this back in March of 2011. Windows Vista SP1 will not be supported starting on July 12 and it has happened. The world's largest software company reminds us that yesterday the support for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 has ended and they have recommended that you upgrade to a newer version of Windows, preferably Windows 7, which by the way is the fastest selling operating system in history. Anyway, if you do not wish to upgrade to Windows 7 it is also recommended that you update your Windows Vistas to the latest Service Pack available which is SP2. You can do that by opening Windows Update. 

Apple releases Mac OS X 10.6.7 - fixes MacBook Pro display issues

Apple have released an update to the Mac OS X. The update, with a version number of 10.6.7, is basically Apple's response to the issues of their latest MacBook Pro line. The issues reported concerns the notebooks' display which would freeze and or flicker. Aside from some minor improvements here and there that this update carries, 10.6.7 will be loved by people who have the latest MacBook Pros.

Microsoft will end support for Vista SP1 in July 12

Microsoft have announced that they will be ending support for Windows Vista SP1 in July 12th. Which means, if you are still running on Vista and on Service Pack 1 you need to update/upgrade to Vista Service Pack 2 to still get security updates and whatnots via Windows Update. 

Apple's Mac OS X Lion 10.7 new features

Unveiled by Steve Jobs himself last October of 2010, the next major version of Mac OS X, Lion 10.7 is not yet officially available but the OS was already released to developers to test the platform and of course to fill the Mac App Store up. After it has been released new features were found, of course what would an update do without it?

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 hits Windows Update

Hours ago Microsoft have already released the download links for the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 update and it is now available via Windows Update. Anyway, you can now update your Windows 7 machines to the first service pack via Windows Update or you can download it manually from those download links. Hit after the break for the links.

Next version of Android will be a combination of Honeycomb and Gingerbread

The former Google CEO, Eric Schmidt, had the stage all by himself during Google's keynote at the Mobile World Congress 2011. He talked about a lot of things. Like there are 350,000 Android activations per day in the world and the Android marketplace now offers 150,000 apps. Aside from those statistics and whatnots he mentioned something about the mobile OS, Android, that made every techblog blog.

Apple releases MacOS X 10.6.7 beta to developers

On January 6th Apple have released an update to their MacOS X which was the MacOS X 10.6.6. Today, they have already released the MacOS X 10.6.7 Beta to developers. Apple have actually two versions of this beta first is the standard version and the other is the server version. Both were released and made available last nigh, and no official change log was provided. Apple have also asked developers to focus on the AirPort, Bonjour, SMB, and Graphics Drivers in testing this new beta software. Developers are also asked to test the Mac App Store together with the other stuffs that they are asked to test. This update is expected to be released soon while Mac users are waiting and excited to try out the next major MacOS X which is the MacOS X Lion (10.7) which is expected to be released this summer.

Apple releases Mac OS X 10.6.6 and officially opens App Store

Which of the two have you been waiting for? The Mac OS X 10.6.6 or the Apple App Store which will be Apple's desktop application store? Either way all of those who are currently running on the MAc OS X Snow Leopard version will now be able to update to the latest version of the OS (10.6.6).

Google Cr-48 laptop starts shipping so that Google can test Chrome OS

This is the laptop that Google have started shipping out to users who have applied and was given approval to the Google's challenger into the Operating Systems market, Chrome OS. Unveiled a few days back, the Chrome OS is set to be one of the lightest OS in the world, if it ain't the lightest.

Mac OS X 10.6.5 Update now made available by Apple

Earlier, Apple released their Mac OS X 10.6.5 update. The update is to fix some of the bugs that the previous version of the operating system has. That includes: 

• improve reliability with Microsoft Exchange servers

• address performance of some image-processing operations in iPhoto and Aperture

• address stability and performance of graphics applications and games

• resolve a delay between print jobs

• address a printing issue for some HP printers connected to an AirPort Extreme

• resolve an issue when dragging contacts from Address Book to iCal

• address an issue where dragging an item from a stack causes the Dock to not automatically hide

• resolve an issue with Wikipedia information not displaying correctly in Dictionary

• improve performance of MainStage on certain Mac systems

• resolve spacing issues with OpenType fonts

• improve reliability with some Bluetooth braille displays

• resolve a VoiceOver issue when browsing some web sites with Safari 5

Google Chrome OS powered netbooks due in November? [Rumor]

Ah, Google, the search engine giant, has been churning a working Operating System to put in the market. Well, news haven't been to kind with the Chrome OS because only rumors and leaks of notebooks (Acer) are the only thing that we receive from it. Today, we add another rumor to the pile.

Microsoft releases Windows 7 SP1 RC

Microsoft officially released an Service Pack - RC version of it's Windows 7, the Service Pack 1 Release Candidate. Am I saying it right? Anyway the version has this code name, windows6.1-KB976932. As with all Service Packs of all the different Windows OS, this one is expected to enhance several things on Microsoft's record breaking, Windows 7 OS. These enhancements include Remote FX and "many incremental updates to the platform". 

Microsoft's purpose of releasing Service Packs is to increase the performance, security, and speed of their OS-es and this one is not excluded from that. Since this is an RC (Release Candidate) version, it should be a stable version already, but as with other software updates whenever it's not a final version of the update then, "install at your own risk.".

The SP update is available, as always, in both 32bit and 64bit of Win7. The size of the update is 865.4MB for the 64bit and 514.7MB for the 32bit. Get the update from Microsoft's download center.

Windows 8: The next Windows OS and the riskiest product bet of Microsoft

That's the face Steve (not the Apple CEO Jobs) Ballmer made when he answered the question, "Other than cloud computing, what's the riskiest product bet that you're [Microsoft] currently making?" at the Gartner Sympotium/ITxpo in Orlando, Florida. What did he answer? Windows. Which basically means that there will be an imminent release of Windows 7's successor, but what will be the next Windows' name? Windows 8.
