Samsung Series 5 unveiled - Chrome OS powered laptop (ChromeBook)

I might be wrong but I think this is the first ChromeBook announced or unveiled after the Cr-48. Anyway, Samsung's first Chrome OS powered laptop, the Series 5, has been announced and is official. This very slim laptop measures only 0.79 inch is leading the way, according to Endgadget, in the Chrome OS space. The laptop was also made official by Google themselves, of course, no where else than during their second keynote at Google I/O in San Francisco, California.

The laptop, since it is a Chrome OS machine, will be sporting what they call the ChromeBook spec. It means it has an Intel Atom processor and a battery that is said to last for one day. But Google said that it will be giving users 8.5 of battery life under continuous usage (that is pretty amazing for a laptop). Also, the laptop will be sporting a 12.1" (1200 x 800) 300nit display and weighs in at 3.26lbs. other specs include a dual-band WiFi 802.11, an optional global 3G, 2 USB ports, an HD webcam, and a clickable trackpad.

You can order the laptop from Amazon or from Best Buy beginning June 15 and will cost you $429 for the WiFi only version and $499 for the version that includes a global 3G (which includes 100MB of free Verizon data per month). Amazon have also listed additional specs of the machine which states that it is featuring a 1.66GHz Intel AtomN570 processor, 1MP camera, 16GB mSATA SSD and an SDXC card reader.
