Acer would not want to be late when it comes to the latest technology available. With Intel's Ultrabook chips and together with Toshiba and Lenovo, Acer have showcased their Aspire S3 Ultrabook at IFA 2011 in Berlin. Like the other Ultrabooks out there (included is Asus's Eee PC UX21), the Aspire S3 will be thin. How thin? I guess this is the thinnest in all of them Ultrabooks, at only 0.51 inch (12.9mm) thick.
The Acer Aspire S3 will be sporting the second generation Intel iCore chips (either an i3/i5/i7). The device is fitted with a 13.3" (1366x768) LED display, either a 240GB/320GB/500GB HDD with embedded SSD, Dolby Home Theater technology, a 1.3MP Acer Crystal Eye webcam, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.0 +HSR.
Acer says that the Aspire S3 is capable of waking up from a sleep in just 1.5secs. From Deep Sleep mode you'll be able to wake the laptop up in just 6secs.
"The Acer A3 will be priced between €799 and €1199 with USA prices forthcoming, and will be rolling out in select regions in September with a ramp-up in productions come October. This laptop is expected to become Acer’s star product during the fourth quarter of 2011."
