HTC Desire HD will not get an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update

HTC has officially said that the HTC Desire HD won't get the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update siting user experience as the reason why it won't get the expected update. HTC said that they have factored in a lot in their decision and ultimately came to the point of user experience. As with any updates, OEMs test them to their devices and decide if it gets the update or not. Since Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is a very advanced version of Android compared to 2.2 Froyo (which was the OS that the Desire HD ran when it was launched) that'd mean that the OS would then need more specs out from the hardware. HTC might not have said it explicitly but it is obvious that the user experience, if the update is pushed, will not make the phone better. AUS: Vodafone Australia releases software updates to the HTC Salsa, ChaCha, Desire HD, and Sensation

Vodafone Australia released software updates to four HTC devices namely the HTC Salsa, ChaCha, Desire HD, and Sensation. 2 of these handsets will be bumped up to Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread in tow is HTC Sense 3.0. These two handsets are the HTC ChaCha and the Desire HD. The two other smartphones will be getting a maintenance update. Anyway, for instructions on how to update your devices click on the name of your smartphone for the instructions. HTC ChaCha, HTC Salsa, HTC Desire HD, and HTC Sensation.

UK: HTC Desire HD and the Incredible S will be getting the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update starting May 16

The HTC Desire HD and the Incredible S' Android 2.3 Gingerbread have started to roll out in the continent of Europe but that seems to have not reached the UK yet. HTC is said to start rolling out the much awaited Gingerbread update on these said smartphones in the UK starting May 16. Take note that the smartphone we are talking about here are those that are bought unlocked and SIM-free. Expect notifications on your devices on the said day and with regards to subsidized phones in the UK, you might still have to wait for your carriers to release their updates since they are the main reason why updates are halted for their own customization on the phone's software. Also, HTC said that the update will be gradually rolled out so not everyone will get it on the same day but the company have said that on May 16 the roll out will start.

HTC Desire HD and Incredible S gets Android 2.3 Gingerbread update

 A lot of good news today, updates actually. To add to software updates, HTC has officially released the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update to the HTC Desire HD and the HTC Incredible S starting today. The update will be OTA and for the Desire HD and Incredible S owners should start getting notifications that an update is available for their devices.

HTC Desire HD, Desire Z, Incredible S, and the HTC Desire will all be updated to Gingerbread

HTC have promised that their recently announced HTC Incredible S will be getting some Gingerbread treat soon. Today, we have a definite time when that will actually happen. HTC have said that the Incredible S will be getting the update by the end of Q2 (2011). That would give the Incredible S owners 4 months of waiting. Regardless of the update coming not so quick as what HTC would like to call it, for as long as its an update, I know that everyone would love to get it.

HTC Desire HD reviewed by Endgadget

The HTC Desire HD, one of the giant Android phones in the market today gets reviewed by Endgadget. Launched in the UK and is available too in the UK the Desire HD is HTC's flagship Android phone, is it? Oh well, it doesn't matter which is the flagship phone. The HTC Desire HD together with the Desire Z are the first phones from that features the latest HTC Sense UI. So I'll be taking snippets of important points that Endgadget have put in their time with the HTC Desire HD. Specs first.

Vodafone UK is now selling the HTC Desire HD and the Nokia N8

Being available SIM free, the HTC Desire HD also goes on sale over at Vodafone UK. You can get the HTC Desire HD on a 2-year contract for £35/month. "This agreement will get you 600 minutes and 500 MB of data if you sign it in a retail location".  But it seems that when you order your Desire HD online at Vodafone you can still get the phone won a £35/month but this time it'll have 900 minutes and 750MB of data and even 5MB good for roaming in Europe.

BlackBerry Torch 9800 & the HTC Desire HD now available in the UK SIM free

RIM's flagship smartphone, that not so spectacular, BlackBerry Torch 9800 is already available in the UK SIM free. Available over at Expansys for £500 ($784) VAT inclusive. My source had this: "At the time of writing this post, they still had 26 in stock." Let's be optimistic.

HTC Sense online portal is now live

Remember the HTC Desire Z and the HTC Desire HD which will be available in the UK anytime today? They are HTC's latest Android smartphones, and two of the best. The smartphones come with the HTC Sense web portal service for free. And the portal is already live, unfortunately it only works with those two smartphones and nothing else. The site allows you to backup information, locate and track your phone, and basically manage your phone just by going into the web portal. HTC Desire HD now on pre-orders at Vodafone UK

The HTC Desire HD is now on pre-orders at Vodafone UK. The Brits are lucky, they get to have it first. The device was unveiled to the public in London and it wouldn't be a surprise if the phone would be available first in the UK. For the device's specs click here. Vodafone is expecting the smartphone to be shipped on October 14.

"Starting this month, the HTC Desire HD (with its huge 4.3 inch display and all then other high-end features – including 768MB of RAM, and 8MP camera with HD video recording) should be available in many other countries across Europe."

Vodafone UK to launch the HTC Desire HD

The HTC Desire HD, unveiled in London, is a smartphone that packs features you only wished your current phone has. Anyway, a catalog from Vodafone UK features the Desire HD and promises the usuals, Android 2.2, 1GHz processor, HTC Sense UI, and the 4.3 inch touch screen display. So that means the phone is bound to be sold via Vodafone UK joining T-Mobile UK. The smartphone is actually on pre-order on other European countries, as you are reading this post. So basically, UK joins the gang and Vodafone Australia is also said to be launching the Desire HD

The question is, will this phone ever come to US shores? We'll see in the future.

HTC introduces the HTC Desire Z and HTC Desire HD

The Nokia World 2010 event in London is not alone. During the same day and time, Taiwanese mobile manufacturer, HTC, had a press conference in the same city of London to unveil their two new powerful Android smartphones. Just in time when Nokia is getting desperate in getting back their lost market in the smartphone world, and HTC came into the show and did again a brilliant job in competing with Nokia. Ok, so here's the two smartphones from HTC.

First we have the HTC Desire HD

This phone packs power inside it. With a Qualcomm Snapdragaon 1GHz processor and a 4.3 inch touch screen display. That's as big as the HTC Evo 4G and the Motorola Droid X. Running on Android 2.2, this smartphone will really mark in the market. HTC also made a camera standard which is an 8MP camera with dual-LED flash and a full HD video recording of 720p. Connectivity features are the usual, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, HSAP + radio, plus it will come with HTC's new and improved Sense UI.

Second we have the HTD Desire Z

The HTC Desire Z is basically the European version of the HTC G2 that is bound for T-Mobile. It has the same innards of the G2 with an 899GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a 3.7 inch touch screen display with a slide out full QWERTY keyboard. Since HTC has set a camera standard on their smartphones, this phone will also be equipped with an 8MP camera with dual-LED flash and a full HD video recording at 720p. Connectivity features also are the same with the HTC Desire HD, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, HSAP + radio, and will also be running on Android 2.2 Froyo and the new HTC Sense UI.

So, that's HTC's way of saying, "what you have there Nokia?"
