Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb, the tablet optimized platform, was officially introduced and demoed last Feb 2. During that introduction, a Google spokesperson said that the OS (Honeycomb) will not be available for smartphones. Oh, well it seems that the OS is specifically made for tablet devices, it makes sense though.
But what's confusing is that PC Magazine reported that according to Andrew Kovacs, Google spokesperson, Android 3.0 Honeycomb will eventually "arrive on phones over time". And then to clear things up Google reached out to BGR and made an official statement and said “The version of Honeycomb we’ve shown is optimized for tablet form factors. All of the UI changes are the future of Android. Yesterday’s event focused on tablet form factors, which is where you’ll first see Honeycomb.”
So, Android 3.0 Honeycomb and its updates, might not be coming into smartphones, but that Tron like UI is definitely expected on Android's smartphone OS. Oh, well if that is the future of Android? Then we all should be pretty much excited for the next Android OS (for smartphones), Android 2.4 or 4.0? IceCream?
