Google makes Android 3.0 Honeycomb official - launches Web-based Android Market

Google made it's tablet optimized OS, the Android 3.0 Honeycomb, official via a live stream over at YouTube.com/android. Although, we've seen the OS in action through a video, Google have showcased and demoed a more polished platform earlier today. One of the key things they have announced and launched together with the platform is the Android Market which is currently live. The market place offers new features and gets an improved user experience not to mention the amazing system that Google have incorporated to the marketplace and all Android devices.

The market place allows you to browse all available apps for Android, your smartphone or your tablet. Google said earlier that "everything is in the cloud" which basically means that the Android Market knows what apps you've installed on your smartphone (for instance) and knows what you have not yet installed. What is more amazing is that the web-based marketplace can push the app your Android device without any cables connected on it. Everything is in the cloud, as what Google say, all your smartphone needs is that it is connected to the internet may that be via WiFi or your network's broadband connection.
"Support for in-app purchases is on its way to Android. The SDK will be released to developers today, and Google expects the first apps to take advantage of it to be available to users before the end of March." - Unwired View
The tablet optimized platform has a lot of new stuff in it. New notification area with more information contained in one notification and allows you to discard each notification one at a time, new widgets with scrolling built in, hardware acceleration to existing apps by just adding one line of code, an added engine for 3D graphics, built-in video calling, and a lot more.

Google maybe playing catch-up to Apple in tablet,s true, but Android recently became the world's #1 mobile platform overtaking Symbian, tablets will be a piece of cake for Google.
