Following the announcement of Intel with regards to their 2nd Generation Intel Core Sandy Bridge processors, almost all of the computer manufacturing companies have halted the sale of their products that is equipped with those chipsets that have an "incurable design flaw". On my count, 6 of them have already responded to the situation, and Samsung has one of the boldest moves, offering a full refund to Samsung PC owners with those faulty chipset. Dell have also responded by offering their customers a solution that will follow their Warranty and Service Terms.
Adding to the list are Toshiba, Asus, MSI, and Lenovo with a grand tally of 6. I'll do this one at a time so that I do not get confused and give you wrong information.
MSI
Let us do MSI first. I loved their new gaming laptops that they have showcased during CES 2011, good news is that they are equipped with Intel's Sandy Bridge processors, bad news is, they are equipped with Intel's Sandy Bridge processors. Here's what MSI has to say about the situation. They have stopped selling their PCs that are affected with Intel's announcement. My source says that anyone who purchased an MSI laptop or PC that features the faulty Intel chipset (Series 6/Cougar Point/2nd generation i5 & i7 processors) can directly go to the nearest MSI customer service center to get their devices checked and from then on can take appropriate actions. Based, on my source's report, MSI will be following their Warranty and Service Terms. The device that mainly suffers from this announcement from Intel is the MSI GT680R. Please do refer to MSI's official website for further instructions and the best action to take with regards to this situation.
