UK: HTC UK announces the availability of the Android Gingerbread update for the HTC Desire

The HTC Desire is a phone that was talked about a while back. HTC UK first announced that the smartphone will not be able to get a Gingerbread update which of course created a public outcry. Then a day after that, they reversed their decision and said that they will be pushing through with the Gingerbread update to the HTC Desire. And then the public waited, until today.

HTC UK made an announced over their Facebook Page and said this:
"As we've mentioned, this upgrade will remove some important functionality and experiences in your HTC Desire. For that reason, we only recommend upgrading if your an expert user or developer. Please make sure to read the full disclaimer about the changes if you do decide to upgrade. Also, flashing this ROM will erase your previous customizations, including any messages, emails, contacts, and other personal information so make sure you backup your data." - HTC UK
The update will, unfortunately, come as a ROM and is not recommended if you are not a smartphone expert or a developer.

"Please note that the following regional variants are not compatible with this upgrade: Germany (Telekom Deutschland), North America, South Korea and Japan." HTC UK adds.

Remember this update is not recommended but if you think you can do it, then head over to this link to get the download.
