The iOS 5 revealed and demoed - a lot of new and amazing features

I believe this is what most of you are waiting for, right? iOS 5, Apple's next iteration of the popular iOS, was unveiled during WWDC 2011 in San Francisco. Just like the Mac OS X Lion, iOS 5 brings in a lot of new features which basically solves problems that the current iOS is having, like notification and whatnots.

Lets take these new important new features one by one. First stop, a new notification system for the iOS.

Apple have made a new notification carried by iOS 5, which by the way will start shipping to customers "by fall". The new notification system is called by Apple as the Notification Center. I hate to say this, but just imagine Android's drop down notification feature and that's basically the Notification Center. If this will make iOS devices and the users make their notification dilemma, then good. At least Apple made a move with the very annoying current notif system that the iOS have.

Newsstand comes with iOS 5 too. Which is a place for all your magazine and newspaper subscription.

iOS 5 comes with a deep Twitter integration. Twitter just announced it too on their official blog site. What Twitter says is that with iOS 5 you can basically tweet everywhere. Single sign-in, contacts integration, allows you to tweets from for gallery of photos, and all those good stuff. I am not sure, but I believe this is Apple's say on Sony Ericsson's Facebook Inside Xperia feature that brings SE users a very deep Facebook integration from their Xperia devices. Like what I said, if it is for the good of iOS, then great.

Other features include Safari reader and what I love most with Safari on iOS 5 is that the browser now has tabs. I mean, tabs that allows us to switch from tab to tab much quicker than what Safari in iOS has now. Reminders is also included, and a split keyboard (like that of Windows 8) shown in an iPad (which basically allows you to hold the iPad with your two hands and swith the keyboard split, you can easily type without having to use one hand for holding the device and the other from typing).

iOS 5 finally has the capability to download new iOS versions OTA (yes Over-The-Air). That means no more tethering to your Macs or PCs. Delta updates will be downloaded via OTA, which means, only those stuff that have changed will be downloaded. What does that mean to you? For those who have data connections that have limits, downloading an update of iOS won't mean a large chunk of your data plan being eaten.
