Apple gets the iPhone 4's design patented

The United States Patent and Trademark Office have awarded the Cupertino-based company, Apple, 18 new patents that will be added in their patent portfolio. The most interesting of these fresh patents is the, now trademarked, design of the iPhone 4.

"The patent covers "the ornamental design for an electronic device with graphical user interface" and depicts the distinctive, minimalist industrial design of the iPhone 4, including the infamous stainless steel antenna that loops around its outer edge." - TUAW

TUAW, says that Apple is quick to submit patent applications to the USTPO so that they can use these records or files as evidence to anyone who tries to copy their ideas. We should all know by now that Apple recently sued Samsung. Accusing the Korean company of copying the look, feel, and even the packing of thei iOS devices. Samsung replied by countering the accusation with a different lawsuit.

Anyway, congratulations to Apple for their 18 news patents.
