Texas Instruments announced OMAP 5: multi-core chips up to 2GHz clockspeed

At MWC 2011 TI (Texas Instruments) showcased their next generation mobile processor, OMAP 5. The new chip will be sporting two ARM Cortex-A15 cores each capable of clocking to 2 GHz. The new chips offer 50%  more performance as to the Cortex-A9 architecture.  Aside from that TI's OMAP 5 will feature two Cortex-M4 for much better performance, better device responsiveness, and lower power consumption.
"The platform can support up to four cameras operating at the same time, offer 3D playback, recording, and 2D upsampling to 3D at 1080p resolution, and control up to 8GB of RAM." - Endgadget
