Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo shipment delayed until July due to Japan earthquakes

We all know that a tragic event happened in Japan last month and my heart goes to the people of Japan. As a result to that disaster Sony Ericsson have announced via their Italian Facebook Page. The announcement said that due to the events in Japan the shipment of the Xperia Neo will be delayed. Now, July is the target month when the device will start shipping. Head over the break to read the announcement.

Below is a snippet taken from Unwired View.

Here’s what SE had to say on its Italian Facebook page (translated using Google):

Hello everyone, today we received an official update on the launch of Xperia Neo.

As you know, the recent disaster happened in Japan is directly involved, both from an emotional point of view and economically.

So far we have not released official communications because we were still assessing the total damage suffered.

Our supply chain is reorganizing in particular as regards the sourcing of components, and the first direct consequence is the rescheduled launch of Xperia Neo, now scheduled for July.

Fortunately Xperia Xperia Arc and Play have not been delayed.

We hope to have your continued understanding in this situation and are confident that we will update you on any further change.

We will continue to keep you updated on the status of these devices and their production.

It is not still certain if this only applies to the Italian market. But I will be posting once I get any updates regarding this situation.
