Toshiba makes the Thrive official - Honeycomb tablet challenger

The Toshiba Tablet! Announce by Toshiba during CES 2011, the Honeycomb powered tablet is finally official. Yes it took them this long to announce at least the name of the device. The device's own landing page went live back in January and until now, it still says "coming soon". But anyway, the Toshiba Thrive will be Toshiba's Honeycomb challenger and will be sporting a 1GHz nVidia Tegra 2 processor.

The Thrive will be launched with Android 3.1 Honeycomb on board, and like what I've said a Tegra 2 chip, a 10.1" touchscreen IPS display, full size USB port, HDMI out, and a swappable battery.

As for the pricing, the Thrive will be priced competitively, just like any other Honeycomb tablets out there. The WiFi only version with 8GB storage will sell for $429, 16GB for $479, and the 32GB for $579. The tablet is expected to be shipped in the month of July. Toshiba is also planning to release a tablet with a different screen size within this year.
