Nokia and Microsoft signs definitive partnership deal - a step closer to the first WP7 Nokia device

After the announcement that Nokia will be partnering with Microsoft back in February, they aimed to make a dent (again) in the mobile phones industry. The partnership, stripped down to it's basics, will allow Nokia to use Windows Phone 7 but aside from that, the Finnish company will also be allowed to tinker with the platform. Nokia together with Microsoft aims to bring the ecosystem to more markets and  to a much larger range of price points, in short, they want to be back in the mobile phone industry.

This news, the signing of the definitive agreement between the two companies, comes in earlier than expected. Nokia is saying that by 2012 "volume shipments" are expected but they are also working on the first shipment of the first WP7 powered Nokia device within this year.

Rumors has it that the first WP7 device coming our from Nokia's factories will be either the W7 or the W8.

I am really excited with this partner, really. Regardless of success as a result or not, at least these two companies are ready and are armed to take the challenge between iOS and Android. These two were among the leaders before. I do not see two underdogs to join forces, as weird or whatnot, and beat the topguns who are currently sitting up there.
