HTC Desire to get Android 2.3 Gingerberad update in the UK in April

The HTC Desire, one of HTC's most popular Android smartphone, will be getting the much awaited Android 2.3 Gingerbread update in the UK. British carrier, Three, have announced via Twitter that the update for the Desire will be rolled out in early April.

With regards to updates, manufacturers usually start rolling out software updates to unlocked or SIM-free devices before carrier locked smartphones get them. Then, it is safe to say that HTC Desire owners that are not locked with a carrier will also be or have started getting notifications that the update is available.

Unwired View have made a bit of work in fitting the puzzle about HTC's plan or roadmap, should I say, in updating it's fleet of Android smartphones.
"Also, we’ve previously heard that the HTC Desire, Desire HD, and Desire Z would get updated to Gingerbread after the Desire S had begun shipping. With that already happening, these tidbits of info line up nicely. As they do with the one claiming that the Desire HD will get updated in April. No word yet on the Desire Z specifically, though it seems pretty okay to assume that it too will start receiving the update sometime around April or May." - Unwired View
For those who are in the UK and with Three UK be happy! Android 2.3 Gingerbread goodness is coming to town!
