Samsung Fascinate for Verizon gets software update but not Android 2.2 Froyo

Ever since the first Samsung Galaxy S smartphone specific for each of the big 4 (plus US Cellular) came and until now, there have been no word or nothing at all that is known when the Android 2.2 Froyo update for these handsets are going to come. Well a word actually came but not the kind of stuff we'd expect.

Anyhow, Verizon's Samsung Fascinate gets an update (software) but not Android 2.2 Froyo. This update is expected to fix some known issues of the said handset. And they have actually started pushing it over-the-air.

Some of the improvements that are included on this update (i500.DL09) are the following:
  •  Ability to change the reminder time and alert tone for calendar events.
  •  Improved the update consistency of the feed and widgets.
  •  Music now pauses if you unplug your wired headset or turn off your Bluetooth® headset.
  •  Improved stand-alone GPS performance.
  •  Increased security by hiding your 3G Mobile Hotspot password while typing.
  •  Ability to open any PDF attachments sent in an email.
  •  Ability to use special characters in corporate email passwords
