Apple have released the beta version of the next iteration of the iOS, the iOS 4.3. As what I have posted previously about the topic, one thing that is new to the update is the WiFi hotspot feature that will now be supported by all iPhone models. The release of the first beta of the iOS 4.3 is a sign that Apple is well on the way in releasing the final version of the OS.
Here is a list of the new things that all Apple iOS devices should be expecting.
- Personal hotspot capabilities for GSM devices
- AirPlay support for third-party native apps and third-party Web apps
- Redesigned FaceTime icon
- Multi-touch gesture support for iPad — “This beta release contains a preview of new Multi-Touch gestures for iPad. You can use four or five fingers to pinch to the Home Screen; swipe up to reveal the multitasking bar; and swipe left or right between apps. We are providing this preview before releasing them to the public to understand how these gestures work with your apps.”
- Configurable slide switch for iPad - the switch was changed from being the rotation lock to a mute switch with the release of the iOS 4.2
- iAd full screen banners on the iPad
"Interestingly, iOS 4.3 appears to also have dropped support for Apple second-generation iPhone — the iPhone 3G — and its second-generation iPod touch. This could make the current build Apple’s final software release for these devices." - BGR
And some other things that interestingly are said to be in the iOS 4.3's code which gives effects to, maybe, video recording and FaceTime calls.
- Thermal Camera
- X-ray
- Kaleidoscope
- Normal
- Tunnel of Light
- Collapse
- Turbine
