Today's Sunday and Sony Ericsson should probably start rolling out those long awaited Android 2.1 update for their Xperia line. It's the day all Xperia users are expecting and is waiting, for a long time. The upgrade from Android 1.6 Donut to Android 2.1 Eclair is expected to truly give the Xperia line, except for the Xperia X8, a revamping job that it deserves.
These are the things expected to be changed when Android 2.1 is already installed.
Xperia X10:
- HD video recording with continuous auto-focus for high quality videos
- Upgrade of the Android platform to Android 2.1
- New back up and restore application, with extended content back up
- 5 homescreens for apps, widgets, shortcuts and folders
- Social phonebook which automatically syncs contact pictures from Facebook and shows when your friends are online
Xperia X10 Mini & X10 Mini Pro:
- Improved Bluetooth functionality with support for sending and receiving pictures, contacts and more
- New backup and restore application with extended content back up
- Automatic synchronization of your contact pictures between Facebook and your phone book
- Improved ways of handling pictures, audio, text and numbers in your messages
- Upgrade of the Android platform to Android platform 2.1
Sony Ericsson further explains that the phone, in most markets, will automatically alert you that the update is ready and you will be guided on how to properly do the update using the PC companion software. The process would also allow you to back up your files, contact,s and whatnots and will be restored once the update is finished.

"Regarding the update it is now out for the first kits, Nordics since yesterday and I’ve also seen that the generic trade kits for Russia, Singapore, Indonesia and many African countries should be up now since earlier today."
