KDDI a Japanese operator has added a tablet from Samsung but its not the Samsung Galaxy Tab that the world knows. The different tablet from Samsung is called SMT-i9100, I'll be referring to it as the Samsung SMT (or maybe SMT i9000).
This is very surprising. Its just now that this tablet ever surfaced on my reader, so it's something very new and very weird, no leaks, & rumors of any kind about this tablet have ever made it through my feed reader. Anyway, lets go ahead and try to learn some things about this tablet.
The Samsung SMT i9000, like the Samsung Galaxy Tab runs on Android 2.2 Froyo and it also features a 7 inch WSVGA touch screen display with a screen resolution of 1024×600 and a 512MB RAM, exactly the same as the Galaxy Tab. The main difference is the skin over lay that Samsung has put onto the Android OS. Instead of the TouchWiz the tablet features an Ocean Observation UI. A downgraded camera (2MP) and no front facing camera, which indicates it can't do video calling. Bluetooth 2.1 and a 2 hours battery life, bummer.
"Additionally, the 450 grams tablet has Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, 4GB flash storage, microSD card slot (up to 32GB) and 2 hours of continuous battery life with standby of 12 hours."The tablet is expected to be released early next year, anyhow Japan will be getting the Galaxy Tab over at NTT DoCoMo.
