LG throws Tablet plans to the bin

Just as soon as LG announced that they are planning in entering into the tablet market is just as soon as they threw that plan into the bin. LG, a month ago, announced that they will be making a tablet to be a player in the tablet market, called the LG Optimus Pad, which will be running on Android 2.2 Froyo.

With Apple's very successful iPad, Samsung's Galaxy Tab, and the just announced BlackBerry Playbook which, by the way runs on three different OS-es, the iOS, Android 2.2, and the QNX based tablet OS of BlackBerry, respectively.

Unfortunately, LG has thrown the plan into the bin. Reuters reports that LG electronics, the world's 3rd largest mobile phone manufacturer, is not pursuing its plans of making a tablet. The reason, for me, is very acceptable though. LG wants their tablet to be running on the most reliable and stable OS in the market, so in short they want their tablet to be running on Android. LG and Google have been talking and Google said that Android 2.2 is not the best OS for tablets, though. This is evidenced by the fact that Samsung's Galaxy Tab ha problems with Android apps.

So LG said, "We plan to introduce a tablet that runs on the most reliable Android version ... We are in talks with Google to decide on the most suitable version for our tablet and that is not Froyo 2.2" So when will LG plan to release a tablet? As we all know, the tablet market is getting ever more crowded as time goes by.
