If you read my blog you should know that the best in screen color technology goes to Samsung's Super AMOLED displays, which is apparently in their Samsung Galaxy S line of smartphones. And if you read my blog religiously, then you should know that the 7 incher Samsung Galaxy Tab is not fitted with Samsung's Super AMOLED displays, why?

In the IFA Berlin, a Samsung executive was interviewed and the first question was why did Samsung chose Super TFT screens on their Galaxy Tab over the Super AMOLED which is the best screen displays today?

Well, the executive answered this way. He said that yes, Super AMOLED is the best in screen display technology the market has today. The reason why Samsung chose Super TFT, which was developed parallel with the Super AMOLED, was the better choice between the two. Since the Galaxy Tab is a much larger device than the Galaxy S smartphones, it would require the device a screen that is much larger than those fitted on their smartphones, apparently. The factors that made them decide to use the Super TFT display are, price positioning of the Galaxy Tab and the power consumption issue that they will be having if they chose Super AMOLED. Yes, Super AMOLED might be good in power consumption but the Super TFT is better still. It is said to consume power lesser than the AMOLED not to mention that the Galaxy Tab is a 7 inch tablet. They also chose the TFT display since they would want to put the Galaxy Tab in th market that is very well positioned to compete with the iPad in terms of its price. If they have chosen the AMOLED the Galaxy Tab could be much more expensive than it is rumored to cost right now at $200 - $400.

So, Koreans are wise aren't they? Watch the video to get the full answer from the Samsung executive on the question.
