Smart Pad from Toshiba to be called Folio

Photo grabbed from Notebook Italia

Smart Pad, yup, not a tablet. That's according to Notebook Italia, the smart pad is just Toshiba's product category of its Folio 100, which basically is a tablet. While Apple, Motorola, RIM, Samsung and Acer are rumored and are actually announcing that they will be releasing tablets of their own, Toshiba on the other hand is also releasing a tablet the main difference is that its categorized by the company as a Smart Pad. Now I do not really know what's the big distinguishing factor that a Smart Pad has over a tablet but I believe that this will pretty much be just like any other tablets out there. This is not yet official, Toshiba has not announced anything about this "Smart Pad" and we will be waiting for that though.

Now for the specifications: this smart pad will be running on Android 2.2. An NVIDIA Tegra 2 CPU, yup it ain't running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon ladies. It features a 10.1 inch touch screen display (Widescreen 1024x600). WiFI b/g/n, Bluetooth and 3G capability. With a 16GB internal memory with an SD Card slot that can support of up to 32 GB of memory. A battery life of up to 7hours of mixed usage, preinstalled is an Opera Mobile browser with Flash 10.1 support. 1.3 MP camera and a lot more. This tablet, i mean smart pad promises to be a powerful one. No mention of RAM though and basing on the photo I think its a thick tablet, don't you think?

Thanks to the work of integration and optimization made by Toshiba engineers, Folio 100 is able to boot in less than 30 seconds. The budget includes applications programs and utilities for Web browsing and personal productivity, and can be enhanced by downloading software from Android Toshiba Marketplace.

That dock thing is a peripheral that I think is a charger or what not. Well, we gotta wait for Toshiba's official announcement for this smart pad, they called it but I will still be tagging this on Tablets though.
