These 2011 Xperia smartphones are basically those smartphone that was made and launched when the company was still named Sony Ericsson, hence the logo. Anyway, this is good news for those of you who own a 2011 Xperia device because the company that took over the previous mobile phone maker brand, Sony, has announced that they will be pushing the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update to those devices. Some of the 2011 Xperias have already started receiving the said version of Android. Sony probably wanted to just reassure their customers that all of their 2011 Xperias will be getting the update.
The Xperia Ray, Arc, Arc S, Neo, Neo V, Mini, Pro, and the Xperia Active should be getting the update within this week (which started back in August 21).
"Xperia mini pro, Xperia neo L and Live with Walkman are next up, and will start to receive their serving over the next few weeks."
"If you’ve already upgraded to ICS, you’ll receive a notification in your phone and be able to download it over-the-air. For those guys on Gingerbread, you’ll need to plug in and upgrade using PC companion or Bridge for Mac. For more information, please visit http://www.sonymobile.com/update."
I think Sony meant to say that if you are already running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Anyway, Cheers Sony users!
