The HTC Evo Shift 4G is Sprint's HTC Evo handset that sports a physical sliding QWERTY keyboard. When the device was announced and then launched, it sports Android 2.2 Froyo, so it is expected to get Gingerbread since it's non-QWERTY sporting brethren got the update, right? Well, good news for those who are owning the Evo Shift 4G! It will be getting the Gingerbread update that it deserves.
Android Police just got a insider's tip that the HTC Evo Shift 4G will be getting the Gingerbread update starting June 29th. Like most Android phones in the US, this update will be via OTA. Also, it is worth noting that neither Sprint nor HTC have announced this officially, so the date might change when they officially announce it, but this is good news nontheless and I'm sure all of you will be getting it.
