The final version or the version of Firefox 5 that will publicly be released come June 21st slips out ahead of time. A tipster was able to download and install the said version of the browser and was tipped to Endgadget. Anyway, this is in line with what Firefox promised to their avid fans and users, that they will be releasing a new version of the browser faster which is also supported by the fact that they have also made available to the public the different channels (versions) of Firefox.
Anyway, since the official release of Firefox 5 is due this 21st the landing page of Firefox where you can download the latest stable version of the browser still says 4.0.1. Firefox 5 brings in a lot of new stuff, as usual with a new version of any browser has. Firefox 5 brings in support for CSS animation and a newer and a much easier way to get to the do-not-track settings. That option is now located under the Privacy tab of the options menu.
To download Firefox 5 just click on the platform you are running on below.
Windows
Mac
Linux
When I installed mine (Windows) and launched for the first time Firefox 5 on my machine, the homepage was directed to Firefox's Test Pilot page. Also, on my taskbar, the Firefox tab does not have the Firefox logo on it. Maybe a result of being just ahead of time? Try it out for yourself, anyway the browser's coming on the 21st. I will still be blogging when that time comes.
