Google unveiled Android Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0)

Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, and now Ice Cream Sandwich. During the Google I/O Conference the search giant have announced and unveiled the next iteration of the most popular mobile platform in the world. The rumors were correct, it is Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Remember, the time when Google unveiled the Honeycomb OS? They said that in due time both the Gingerbread and the Honeycomb will come together as one OS (Gingerbread for smartphones and Honeycomb for tablets). That day have come today, well not really but it will be in Q4 of 2011.

Android Ice Cream Sandwich is the OS that will joing both platforms together as one that will be able to support all devices. Google have termed it as "One OS everywhere". I am not sure on to what version of Android the Ice Cream Sandwich is, but according to BGR's tagging, it's the 4.0 version of Android. Expect it to look more like what the Honeycomb looks today or even better. Google have said it before that the Honeycomb will be the basis of all other major iterations of the Android platform. Anyway, Q4 is the scheduled release of that version of Android and until then, all we have to do is wait for it.
