Motorola Defy joins the bandwagon of Android 2.2 Froyo devices

Another smartphone hopping in the Android 2.2 Froyo bandwagon is the Motorola Defy. The phone is being offered by T-Mobile USA (or was offered) and was promised to get the said version of the Android platform last year in November. Finally after almost 6 months of waiting the much awaited Android 2.2 Froyo update for the T-Mobile Motorola Defy is finally here.

The update brings in a lot of new features into the first water, shock, and dust proof Motorola Defy. Android 2.2 Froyo includes Flash support and the ability for users to store apps via the SD card.

The update weighs in at 112MB so you might want to get your WiFi ready if you don't want to wait or the phone to download the update or if you don't want the update to eat away your data quota. If you still did not receive the update you can manually check it by going to Menu > Settings > About Phone > System Updates > and check for updates there.

I believe that this update is only available in the US since my source mentions T-Mobile. I am not yet sure if this is also available internationally. But there is no harm in checking or trying so if you are outside the US follow the steps above to check if you got the update too, if not, then I believe patience is what you need.
