Just like Facebook's move, Twitter also incorporated into their security improvements the use of HTTPS on their website! Twitter just announced today the introduction of HTTPS onto their website to make your Twitter experience a lot more secure.
"Today, we’re taking an important step to make it easier to manage the security of your Twitter experience – we are adding a user setting that lets you always use HTTPS when accessing Twitter.com. Using HTTPS for your favorite Internet services is particularly important when using them over unsecured WiFi connections."
You can change the settings of your Twitter by going to the Settings page. If you want to use HTTPS everytime you login to Twitter then check the box which says "Always use HTTPS".
