Samsung to rethink the Galaxy Tab 10 after iPad 2 unveiling

After the unveiling of the iPad 2 with it's thinner and lighter design, Samsung might go back to the drawing board with their own dual-core offering that is yet to be launched. The Galaxy Tab 10 was unveiled in Spain during the Mobile World Congress 2011 and was one of the most talked about dual-core tablets until the iPad 2 came into the limelight.

According to a report by Yonhap Samsung is somehow impressed or shocked by how thin the iPad 2 is, in fact it is thinner than the iPhone 4. It's just 8.8mm thin, the iPad 2. Now that's something that Samsung apparently was caught off guard.

The challenge says Samsung's mobile devision executive vice president, Lee Don-joo, is that the iPad 2 comes into the world in a thinner fashion yet tagged at the same price of the original iPad.
"We will have to improve the parts that are inadequate," Lee told Yonhap News Agency. "Apple made it very thin."
The larger Galaxy Tab 10 with it's 10.1" touch screen display is made to be thinner than the original Galaxy Tab and will be priced higher, since it features a larger screen. But...
"The 10-inch (tablet) was to be priced higher than the 7-inch (tablet) but we will have to think that over," - Lee Don-joo
So, a challenge, let's see what Samsung can make with this situation after being being pointed out by Jobs that this year will be another "copycat" year.

On a more personal note, the iPad 2 is set to take the stage again, like what the iPad 1 did. Someone, a company, is yet to come right beside Apple to make a challenge. I hope that 2011 is year where we will have more choices than just the iPad. Not just other choices but a real choice. Not just an option but an option that will truly make us think before we decide on buying.
