We already know that Facebook is already filling a trademark for the word 'Face' in the US and is just a payment away of doing that. What is more interesting is, that TechCrunch have found an allegedly unreported event sometime in 2004, when Facebook was at it's very young age.

Sometime in May of 2004, Facebook have apparently filled a trademark for the word 'Face' in Europe. The trademark would apply to all online social networking and related activities. The trademark that the company is filing in the United States is still pending. TechCrunch reports that Facebook is just a payment away to owning the word 'Face' in the US.
"Facebook will have file a Statement of Use and use the trademark on its own in commerce before it has actual legal claim over the word “Face.” Right now it only uses the word “Face” in conjunction with “book,” but that will have to change if it wants to have any right to the trademark." - TechCrunch
So what is next for FaceBOOK? Well, in Europe, Facebook is in the works again of putting a trademark on the word 'Book'.
There's the proof. In that file, it has listed all the things and whatnots that this trademark would apply mainly about computer services like creating virtual communities for registered users to organize groups and events. Why am I not surprised?
Do you think Facebook should file for trademarks for words that are so common like 'Face' and 'Book'?
