ViewSonic, a company much know with their LCD displays and screens have announced their first phone ever. ViewSonic is also in the tablet market with their ViewPad offering. It seems that the company not only wants to be in the screens and tablets market but also in the smartphone market with their ViewPad 4 an Android based smartphone.
The company says that the "phone" is actually a tablet with a 4.1" touch screen display. Regardless of what category they want to put this device on it still offers you "full phone functionality" which basically brings it back to the smartphone category doesn't it? Anyway for the specs.
ViewSonic ViewPad 4 specs:
- Android 2.2 Froyo
- 4.1" WVGA touch screen display
- WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
- A-GPS
- Stereo Bluetooth
- Ambient light and proximity sensor
- 5 MP rear facing camera
- VGA front facing camera
- 512 MB RAM
- 2GB ROM
- 1 GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor
Based on the technical specs of the smartphone this is a high-end phone that ViewSonic is offering and I should say is not a bad phone at all. But based on the photo I'm a bit concerned of the device's thickness.
The device is available in mid-2011 and the pricing is said to be "dependent upon network carriers".
