Yup, you've read it correctly, the HTC Evo Shift 4G, bound to be an Evo 4G with the physical sliding QWERTY keyboard still bound for Sprint. The smartphone is yet to be announced be either Sprint or HTC, and so this might, if you would like, call this another of those leaks we get from the internet. The handset though, is close from its imminent launch since we have already also seen this handset officially up in a RadioShack catalog priced at $149.
Today, Endgadget reports that the handset, and indeed it did, landed on Amazon and is currently priced at $199..99 with a 2-year contract with Sprint. The funny thing about this is that since the handset is not announced officially, Amazon used a "user submitted" photo, maybe because it is so unknown to non tech news followers and Amazon would just want to give them an overview of how the device looks like.
Unfortunately, when I got to the site, it now looks like this. It seems the phone is so unofficial that Amazon decided to pull down the image and just leave it blank, maybe waiting for the right time that the handset will get its official photos. Based in history, most devices get their official photo shoot the day before it's official unveiling.
I am leaning on CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2011 in Las Vegas for the announcement and the introduction of this phone regardless it be unveiled by Sprint (does Sprint go to the CES?) or HTC and that event is just a week from now (January 6th).
To give you a recap and to refresh your minds, the HTC Evo Shift 4G, is said to feature a 3.7" multi-touch WVGA display, an apparent sliding physical QWERTY keyboard, and will probably run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
