LG confirms that they will be updating the Optimus series to Android 2.3 Gingerbread

Most of the questions come from LG Optimus One owners, which sold 2 million units globally by the way, if they will get the Gingerbread version of Android. Queries kept on pouring and what LG did say before is that they will not be able to update the Optimus line of smartphones since Google have an unannounced spec requirements for the Gingerbread. Then after that LG said that it was plausible because there is actually no requirement. So which is which? Will the Optimus line of smartphones by LG eventually get the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS that the Nexus S and Nexus One will have?

This news comes after Samsung Mobile India have confirmed that the Galaxy S (referring to the GT i9000) will get the Gingerbread loving of it all, they just did not announce when that day will come of when the update will start rolling out. I bet on next year.

To put everything to rest LG posted on their Public Notices page that their Optimus line of smartphones will get the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update, that includes the LG Optimus One. Now since LG have made an announcement regarding the possibility of the smartphones getting the Gingerbread loving that it needs, the next question that needs to be asked is, when will the updates start to roll out?
