[Local] Samsung i5510 Android 2.2 Froyo to hit the Philippine shores?

Android is literally everywhere! This time it's a rumor about an Android powered smartphone by Samsung with the codename i5510 that will hit the Philippine shores and will retail for Php 15,990. Now this might not be that close to LG's Optimus One which is priced lower but it's a price that will be easy on your pocket. This is the Samsung i5510 or Samsung Galaxy 551, and nope it ain't a Galaxy S. This will be along side with Sammy's Galaxy line of Android smartphones. It will be a mid-range Android phone. Since it's mid-range phone, it will not have the superb specs that the Galaxy S family have. But don't be deceived with the mid-range of it all, it still packs good specs underneath its casing.

Oh it features a slide out QWERTY keyboard, that's why it's priced a bit higher. It's a mid-range phone and will never be at par with Samsung's flagship phones that have that Galaxy S labeling but for those who wants to have an Android smartphone that are on a tight budget this phone should be one of your options, given that the rumor holds water.

The specs of the Samsung i5510 is really not that disappointing for a mid-range smartphone. It features an Android 2.2 Froyo, with 667MHz processor, a 3.2inch 240 x 400 capacitive touch screen display, a 3MP camera, HSDPA (7.2Mbps), WiFi 802.11 b/g wih DLNA, Bluetooth, GPS, FM Radio, 3.5mm headset jack, DivX playback support, 160MB of internal memory plus a microSD card slot, and a 1200 mAH battery.

Since I'm here in the Philippines I'll be crossing my fingers for this one to hold water, the rumor. I want Android to literally flood the Philippines like it did in other countries. Android does not yet have a good grip of the market here, locally, so that's why the crossed fingers. Of course, more options which breeds good competition.
