Windows Phone 7 October 21st Europe launch with 2000 apps

Neowin have already reported that the Windows Phone 7 will be launching in Europe on October 21st particularly in Germany, UK, France, Italy and Spain. In the US though, they would still have to wait until November 8th. But anyhow, what's interesting is, that the Mobile OS, on launch, will be having 2000 apps. That's a lot, considering that the Windows Phone 7 is a new OS from Microsoft. In addition, Steve Ballmer said "Unlike Google, if you write an app for Windows Phone 7, it will work on all Windows phones", this means that the apps for WP7 are backward compatible and can run on all WinMo (previous versions of Windows Mobile) devices but I do not think that apps made for, lets say, WinMo 6.5 can run on WP7. Don't worry, everything that is just starting starts from small things.
"Before long, it could be a distinct possibility that the amount of WindowsPhone 7 apps surpasses the amount of those on the Apple app store. It seems we’ll have to watch this space and see whether developers flock to Windows Phone once again." - Neowin
