My previous post was about the iPhone 4's price listing with Globe Telecom (Philippines), it would be so unfair if I don't post the price for the Samsung Galaxy S i9000 which is also exclusive from Globe.
But before that, let me give you a head to head comparison between the two smartphones.
So here we go.
OS: The iOS4, which is spearheaded by the iPhone 4, is pre-equipped on the phone while the Galaxy S runs on Android 2.1 Eclair but an Android 2.2 Froyo update will be announced. The difference, none, at least noticeably. Although, Android has lesser apps available with just 80,000 + apps and couting compared to Apple's way more than 80,000 + available online, that is the only downside of the Android OS, but in terms of performance and reliability, they are both basically the same.
Processor: One of the most important part of the inside of a smartphone. The iPhone 4 is equipped with Apple's very own A4 chip which is based on ARM Cortex A8 Core. The Galaxy S has the ARM Cortex A8 chip both of which, on the iPhone 4 and the Galaxy S, has the 1GHz clockspeed. Unfortunately for the iPhone 4, it's processor is underclocked.
Touchscreen: Apple equipped its iPhone 4 with their latest display technology which they call Retina Display. It gives the iPhone 4 a 940 x 640 pixel screen resolution and promises to give you a no-pixel-visible display. The Samsung Galaxy S has 480 x 800 and boasts Samsung's Super AMOLED Display which is a challenger to Apple's Retina Display Technology.
Storage: The iPhone 4 is stuck with either a 16GB or a 32GB storage capacity. The Galaxy S might only have 16GB or 8GB of built-in memory but it has a microSD card slot that can support up to 32GB of memory putting the Galaxy S way over the curve.
Camera: Both smartphones have a 5MP camera and with HD video capability of 720p video recording and both also has a built in flash.
Connectivity: Both are Quad-band phones, which means basically that it can work with any network carrier anywhere in the world.WiFi 802.11 n (at most). The iPhone 4 has a Bluetooth 2.1 technology while the Galaxy S is equipped with 3.0. Both handsets also have GPS, proximity sensor, compass, accelerometer and ambient light sensor. When the Galaxy S gets the Android 2.2 update it will have better browsing capability and allows you to make your Galaxy S a WiFi spot.
Weight and Dimentions: The Galaxy S' thickness is 1cm, that's 0.7mm thicker than the iPhone 4. The Galaxy S is 122 x 64mm big, bigger than the iPhone 4's 115 x 59mm but amazingly the Samsung Galaxy S is lighter than the iPhone, with 119g and 164g, respectively.
Talk and Standby Time: 420 mins of talk time and 300 hours of standby time for the iPhone 4. The Samsung Galaxy S has a talk time of only 390 mins but can last to 576 hours on standby this is all thanks to the Super AMOLED screen that eats up way lesser battery than any other high-end displays.
Pricing: Click here to view the iPhone 4's price listing.
The Samsung Galaxy S i9000 is Php 32,995 no contract.
Cash out (plan):
Plan P999 P23,100
Plan P1799 P15,500
Plan P2499 P9,950
Plan P3799 P4,250
The phone will be free (without cash outs) if it is tied up with either a P5,000 plan or P10,000. But when I was at Globe's Business Center 2 weeks ago, they said the new offer is that it'll be free starting at Plan P2,499. So there it goes.
Now you choose which of the two is the better smartphone. Either way, I know you wouldn't regret buying any of the two phones.
