RockMelt Beta 2 officially released - check out it's new features

RockMelt, the newest browser in town which focuses on social networking, have released the RockMelt Beta 2. The 2nd beta of the browser boasts a lot of new stuff that comes with it. Aside from the fact that the beta will be running on Chromium 10, it offers new apps and features like "View Later".

Here are the new things that all of us RockMelt users should expect from RockMelt Beta 2.

1. New Chat

For those who have used RockMelt, that new chat box UI is a big difference from the old one. Unlike before, when the chat boxes are opened, they open on separate little windows. The new chat box is now docked on RockMelt's chat bar. The new chat box also got a new subtle notifications for upcoming new messages. Also, the chat windows or whatever you call them can be dragged away from the chat bar and open in a new window just like the old chat box was.

2. View Later App

The View Later app works just like your other browser's bookmark feature. Unlike your other browser's bookmark feature the View Later app has a button on RockMelt's edge for easy viewing and reading of the pages you have bookmarked. (see photo below)

3. The New Twitter App

Just by the looks of it, much have changed from the old Twitter app by RockMelt.
"It doesn’t just look better, it’s packed with new features. Now, in addition to your lists and @mentions, you can also edit retweets, view direct messages, reply to all users, and search Twitter easily. Did we mention that it uses the real-time API so you get updates instantly? " - RockMelt

Beta 2 have also fixed bugs, as all updates do. These are what Beta 2 have fixed.
  • Improved support for Chrome themes
  • Fixed issue with the Twitter App not displaying notifications for new tweets
  • Fixed issues with audio playback when watching videos inside the Twitter App
  • Improved reliability of sync for feeds
  • Improved overall RSS feed reliability
  • Fixed several causes of crashes
They have already started rolling-out the update and all of us should have it by next week. I have not yet received mine so I am pretty excited over it. I hope this update will lead me into using the browser more than how I normally use it.
