The successor of the world's first ever Android smartphone, the T-Mobile G2 is said to be getting an Android 2.3 Gingerbread update this Summer. Well, this isn't a confirmed report yet but according to some people who are able to speak with an HTC representative the smartphone will be getting an update. When that news becomes official and announced properly I will surely be updating you about it. For now, this is all that we have and will take it.

T-Mobile G2 for only $49.99 on contract
When the smartphone was launched in the US, it was available for $199.99 on contract with RadioShack getting first blood. Today, over at T-Mobile's official website, the G2 is available for only $49.99, that's a hundred bucks lesser!
Called as the HTC Desire Z in all other parts of the world, the G2 features a physical sliding QWERTY keyboard, a WVGA touch screen display, HSPA+, WiFi, GPS, a 5MP camera with HD video recording, 4GB of internal memory, and an 800MHz processor. It runs on Android 2.2 Froyo, so let us hope that anytime soon, it will get an Android 2.3 Gingerbread update.
For the mean time head over at T-Mobile to get that offer.

Hands-on Preview of the T-Mobile G2 by HTC - Endgadget
T-Mobile G2, if you wanna look at it as the US version of the HTC Desire Z, then go ahead. Endgadget saw this device at Best Buy's NYC holiday event, and it'll be the first time that we get to see the G2 in live photos, at least a photo that's not leaked. A quick run down on its specs and features: 3.7-inch display, Android 2.2, 4GB of internal memory, an 800MHz Snapdragon processor and a 5 megapixel cam with a flash. Plus its got an optical track pad just like on BlackBerry smartphones. The device is not yet for sale or you still cant buy it, but at least seeing the actual device at Best Buy is a sign that pretty soon it'll be officially launched.
Click on the source link below to read the preview from Endgadget and also a video from the same source.

The world's first Android smartphone's predecessor - HTC G2
HTC is getting boring, that's a personal opinion. My basis? go to my HTC tagged posts and you will see why. If it wasn't for their unique way of keeping smartphones simply brilliant then I wouldn't spend much effort in pressing on these keys to write about them. Even though I have said they are getting boring, HTC is still HTC, truly a leader when it comes to smartphones plus Android of course, with Samsung.
T-Mobile just announced that the successor of the world's first Android smartphone's, HTC G1, is here and is ready for pre-orders over at, where else?, T-Mobile.
Photo grabbed from Android Brains
The new smartphone features: 3.7 inch WVGA multi-touch display, Android 2.2 Froyo, 4-row QWERTY keyboard, one-touch “quick keys”, Swype, GPS, Wi-Fi, 3.5mm headset jack, Adobe Flash Player support, Microsoft Exchange, 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash, HD video recording, 800 MHz Qualcomm processor, 4GB of internal memory, 8GB memory card preinstalled, and a 1300 mAh battery.Unwired View
Despite it's 800MHz CPU its still a smartphone from HTC. Just by that, this will be another great Android phone, not to mention its running on 2.2.
