Sony Mobile unveiled their very first phablet device - The Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Sony Mobile's first and entrance into the world of phablets has begun with their announcement of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra. Samsung simply just cannot take all of the market on that segment right? HTC has their own phablet so it is Sony's time. The Xperia Z Ultra follows the design aesthetics of the Xperia Z and like the Z this phablet is also water proof. It has an IP rating of 55/58. Sony is scheduled to launch this Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 powered Android running phablet globally by Q3 of 2013.

Sony Xperia Z Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update started rolling out to select countries

According to a report, the Sony Xperia Z is finally getting its Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update in select regions of this world. Hong Kong and Spain has started receiving the update and those are phones that are generic (which I believe means an unlocked non-carrier Xperia Z). The update is not via OTA so people who own the device needs their PCs and their PC Companion in order to get the update. Xperia Zs with carrier customizations (those bought via a carrier contract) in the Czech Republic, Austria, and The Netherlands have also been reported to have started rolling out. In Taiwan, generic Xperia Zs are also getting the same update.

Sony Mobile has recently announced another Android smartphone to be added into their Xperia line of devices. This is the Sony Xperia M (it has a dual-sim variant called the Xperia M Dual) which, based on its specs, budget friendly smartphone that runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The Xperia M sports a 4-inch display and is being powered by a 1GHz dual-core CPU. We do not have any information about where the device will first see a store shelf even its price. There should be a carrier out there in the future who will launch this device and start selling it to prospective buyers. Anyway, the specs.

The Sony Xperia ZR

This is a bit of a late post and I apologize. This is the Sony Xperia ZR a somewhat improvement to the Xperia SP. The Xperia ZR is the waterproof version of the Xperia SP, if you may. The device allows you to shoot HD videos under water and this has become a trend in Sony Mobile's camp with the announcement of the Xperia Z, their 2013 Android flagship device. The ZR is IP58 certified smartphone that gives it the highest level of water resistance.

Acer's first phablet the Acer Liquid S1

Acer has announced their first phablet device dubbed as the Acer Iconia Liquid S1. The phablet sports a 5.7" display powered by a quad-core processor. The phablet seems to be the company's first Android 4.2 device, if I am not mistaken. Acer expects the Liquid S1 to be shipped starting Q3 of 2013 in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Ukraine, Russia, the UK, and in Germany. The device has a dual-sim variant which will entirely depend on the market the device will be sold. As for pricing Acer gave it an SRP of 349 euros.

Acer unveiled the Acer Iconia W3 Windows 8 tablet

The world's first 8-inch Windows 8 tablet was announced by Acer and is dubbed as the Acer Iconia W3. Being the world's first 8-incher W8 tablet it might own the market for a while before anybody else out there with another 8-incher. In terms of design, I believe Acer did a brilliant job with W3 and it sitting on that keyboard dock, stunning. According to GSMArena, the device will be launched starting June in the UK (base on the currency the blog used). Prolly it will also be launched somewhere else on the same month.

Asus announces the Fonepad Note FDH6 a 6" phablet

Asus, at Computex 2013, has announced tons of devices, as always. First we have this Android phablet, their first, dubbed as the Asus Fonepad Note FDH6. The device is a phablet because it sports a 6-inch 1080p display with every smartphone capability you can imagine plus a stylus. Base on this photo, it seems like Asus is going Samsung with their phablet. If you look at it properly, aside from the fact that it sports a stylus, the Fonepad Note (and further, aside from the "Note" naming) sports what seems to be a multi tasking feature we all know as the multi-window. Anyway, the phablet runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and sports a 6" (1080x1920) Super IPS+ display giving you  367 pixels per inch of pixel density. Asus, unfortunately did not give out the devices full specs and with that we are left with so much to wonder what the heck is inside this device. I'll update this post once I get more information about the Fonepad Note.
